He didn't use the best of examples so I'll try. Voracek is an 88 and had a good season last season but Patrick Kane is also an 88 and Voracek is nowhere near the player Kane is. Same style of players, only different in size but Patrick Kane is elite.

I the ratings system follows the careful formula of, "Just put everything around 90 nobody cares whatever."

Yeah and Gaborik didnt even have a good season so its clearly not based off stats, these ratings make no sense.

Im saying anyone who thinks Gaborik is anything more than just a goal scorer or is anywhere close to being as good as Giroux is smoking crack. Gaborik also got rated higher than Tavares, Bergeron, as good as Zetterberg?????

Better than Getzlaf, Perry, Couture, Kane???!!!

- GOA88

Marian Gaborik at the top of his game could easily be one of the best snipers in the league. I see no outrage in making him a 90.

Overall is based on more than just being a sniper, Defense is also taken into account and we all know Gaborik is a ghost in the D-zone

dont forget eli closing his eyes and heaving a duck that turned into a supernatural helmet catch and someone paying off welker to drop a wide open pitch and catch ball that wouldve sealed the deal!

Eli is on record as stating he's going to try and emulate the last Eagles Championship season this year. He's crafting a leather helmet as we speak.

Actually Grborik and Tortorella were butting heads in New York, Grborik was traded to Columbus and became an immediate difference maker for that club. What happened to John Tortorella at the end of the last season?

27 pts in 48 games. and even then he is just a one trick pony. He isnt a Giroux, Toews, Kane, Getzlaf, Bergeron, the list goes on.....

Gaborik's defensive stewardship was instrumental in Bobrovsky capturing the Vezina.

Gaborik is a winger, which means he's gonna have less defensive responsibility. I don't think the ratings are based on a season by season basis but the star's overall work. We don't know how many plus 5's were added on Gaborik's defensive awareness, not that it matters.

One trick pony? Gaborik has scored 40 goals something like three times. The pastime he did so I believe was not last season but the season before with the New York Rangers. Logical enough for you?

One trick pony means he is only good at one thing, scoring goals. He is average at best in any other category except for passing.

Gaborik has a fairly long history of offensive success, with his only "bad" offensive season being the past season. The NHL ratings system is based on a player, not a player's prior season. 90 is about where he should be.

So you think... Overall as a player... Gaborik is as good as Giroux and better than Tavares..... right now??

I'm not a Gaborik fan at all. I think he's a lazy player who is also injury prone. He's very streaky, but he's been a solid offensive player in the NHL.

I haven't seen anyone proclaim he's better than Giroux, or Tavares. He doesn't have to be to be in order to be a good player.

I agree completely. To me comparing Giroux to Gaborik is apples and oranges. Giroux is a playmaking center who is defensively sound. Gaborik is a dynamic sniping winger. Giroux is still a rising star, while Gaborik has been a around along time already.

Im not saying Gaborik isnt a great player, this discussion is about how EA Sports rated Gaborik higher than Tavares and the same as Giroux and that is completly wrong.

Your best argument is the fact Gaborik shouldn't be a 90 because he's not good defensively. My argument is he doesn't have to be. I'm sure Alexander Ovechkin will be something between a 93 and a 95. What is Over known for exactly?

Im asking you though, Regardless of Giroux being a center and Gaborik a winger....Overall, with all aspects of hockey skill taken into account. Do you truly believe that Gaborik is better than Tavares and as good as Giroux? Thats all Im saying.... Hes isnt even better than Patrick Kane and Kane is 88 overall. What world do they live in???
