You know who are my worst players at the high school level I coach? The kids who think they have "dangles", think they need "dangles", or even use the term "dangles". - Ryan_Wilson
I hate the impact of this "Gongshow Hockey", they are to blame for the idea of dangles, and them being relevant to solid hockey.
Lemieux never dangled anyone, he beat them like rented mules. |

I would take Jamie Benn over all couture, yet he didnt even get the invite. Watch them come crawling back to him once him and seguin have a lights out start to the season. |

My favorite was a player of mine who left before his senior year to play on a "pay to play" junior team in which he and his "dangles" eventually landed a spot on a junior college club team. Awesome. |

If Kunitz makes the team I'm gonna flip
So much more talent out there. Kunitz is a 2nd line player on any other team in the league, 3rd on some. Product of Crosby 100%
Crosby can have/make chemistry with anyone |

only way Kunitz makes it is if Crosby lobbies for it. |

I love Kunitz as much as any Pens fan but there is too much depth in the Canadians stables to even think of playing him on crosbys wing. |

Clearly I agree that he should not be on Team Canada however, his 2nd best point total (60) as an NHL player came in Anaheim during 2006-2007. His personal best is 61 points during 2011-2012 and he was with Malkin* . He is not completely a product of Crosby. He is a very good player in his own right.
*Yes, I understand Malkin is pretty good too*

Kunitz is a great all around player and can hit and defend really well. He is responsible with the puck as well. Just thinking a room full of talented scorers will make it happen is a mistake IMO. You need to consider each and their role in the team. I doubt he will make the team but that is a good thing for team USA. |

No one will dispute he is a productive and effective player, but compared to the players invited to the Canadian Orientation Camp, he is in my opinion, the "worst" forward there. By "worst," I don't mean to convey he sucks or isn't good, but he isn't at the level those other players are at. It would be like me, a Flyers fan, lobbying for Scott Hartnell to make the team. Just won't happen. |

I think the other options are able to do what he does as well, but with even more talent. |

But he wasn't even invited
I guess my point is you don't have to bash a guy (not directed at you) to say somebody else is better suited for the spot.
Making up and creating flaws for Kunitz that do not exist is not necessary to making an argument for other players. |

yes he is a good player, but he does get the benefit of playing with arguable the 2 best players in the world. However compared to some of the guys that would be left off the roster who put up 60+ points and not having that benefit. Hall tossing up 50 in 45 games with Sam Gagner is more impressive that Kuntiz putting up 52 in 48 with crosby. Or duchenes 43 in 47 playing with Parenteau....Hall and Duchene were their teams offeseaon while playing with way inferior linemates compared to Kunitz
I had kunitz in my fantasy pool, I dropped him after crosby got hurt bc like I figure would happen, he barely got any points |

Gretzky played just fine in 1987 without Kurri. People have been calling Crosby this generation's Gretzky, so it shouldn't be an issue to leave Kunitz off. |

Crosby cant hold Gretzkys jock strap, that being said Crosby would do just fine if not better with any of the other players that will actually make team Canada. |

It comes down to the first couple months of the season. If he comes out on last season's pace and is top 5-10 in scoring, I think he goes (right or wrong).
The argument the "he's only good with Crosby", is not true as he has played great with high end talent his whole career, but also dumb, because he'd be playing with Crosby in Sochi.
Canada had issues with finding linemates with him in 2010, and he seems to play best with straight line, predictable wingers. Unfortunately "predictable" between players takes time to develop, and you don't have that time in short tournaments.

That being said...
Crosby with Duschesne would be sick, and they have skated together at different times at least the last couple summers. Add Stamkos to that line.... Gulp....
I also think Crosby and Taveres would work well together. |
