Crosby/Malkin/Staal/Toews/Getzlaf/Perry etc just don't get to free agency.

Teams lock them up and build around.

Bottom feeders get to draft Nobody Mcknobody and no decent UFA will want to play with them.

Pretty much gotta draft those young star players teams build championships around.

Crosby/Malkin/Staal/Toews/Getzlaf/Perry etc just don't get to free agency.

Teams lock them up and build around.

well im thinking, less money for players overall, no backdiving (look at the deals being signed... cap hits are climbing fast). Seguin was dealt for off-ice issues. i'm talking deals because teams just won't be able to afford 3-4 superstars. we'll see.

The Pens are already in Cap trouble. The Hawks went through it 2 years ago. Teams simply can't afford more than 3 or 4 stars in a Cap system. There would be MORE turnover, IMO.

Both are still top 5 teams... all the best teams have their core group of 4-6 or so 'star' players

none of us minded when our teams were banking the 8-12 points/year
