Phil had the same label coming out of Boston - the attitude. Kadri at 4 - 5 million scoring 60 points or more a season is not far fetched at all. In Fransons case its totally the cap space, the guy is solid but they can't sign him. All they had to do was compliance Liles and Grabs and regular buyout Komi and they'de all be there right now.

Even if he had both on bridge deals it wouldn't be enough. He messed it up as I've been saying for 3 months now. I love the LEafs but that doesn't mean Nonis didn't f it up. How in the world he thought anyone would take Liles is beyond me. And if they go into the season with him instead of Franson thats retarded. Franson was probly their best d man against Boston, and Liles couldn't crack the lineup.

Ha ha I have. I posted the leafs cap was screwed long before Fraser or any of those guys went to arbitration and guys were saying he was only worth 900. They messed it up off the bat with the buyouts and bringing in guys before locking up their own. And those deals you put up would be more than fair right now.

Thats a terrible way to deal with players IMO. The guys worth 4 million, but we'll screw you over just to screw you over, cause we can? Yikes. I personally believe he just f-ed it up, plain and simple. Also, is he not shopping Liles then?

i think he's playing it fine with Kadri. other teams are in the same sitch (NYR, STL, Ott, even Phoenix wih Boedeker). but with Franson, i think he's completely made a hash of things. Franson is the only one of the key unsigned RFAs who is over 23 and not coming off an ELC. the guy has put in his time. he's been a pro for 6 seasons (NHL for 4) and was picked in the same draft as Sidney Crosby. the idea of a "bridge" deal or "prove it again" deal for him is ludicrous. he should have been taken care of before the Leafs got themselves into this squeeze.

Not sure why everyone is freaking out about the Kadri thing...he isnt being treated any differently than most guys of his stature/age/experience level....Petro not signed yet, Hodgson, Cowen, Johansson, Stepan (to name a few).

lock Kadri up at 4-4.5. Caps going up to 70M by 2015 so He will want more then especially if he has 80 point seasons.

How much $$ do you think the 5 out door games will bring in? 1M/game? that only an extra 5 m added. Were is all the other revenue coming from? ticket price going up, but that just a small amount.

no, that's not business. you're cut-throat with competitors, but smart businesspeople treat their employees fairly. it's not a case of Franson expecting the Leafs to hand him money, it's about an expectation that he gets paid on par with his comparable peers.
