I would agree a fourth round pick isn't enough. And yes, there is a benefit to any playoff experience, especially for a young team.

This is where I'm coming from - I don't see any way the Isles sign Moulson for the 2014/15 season. So I would like to get something for him. I hope I'm wrong and they can extend him for a decent price before the trade deadline. A lot of it depends on Moulson's plays this season. I think he will do well since this is his chance at a big payoff.
As far as severely reducing the team's offense and diminish the team's playoff chances - Cptmjl and Vukota beat that to death. I think they covered it all.

So I can agree that we can agree to disagree.

I understand where you're coming from. But, if the Isles were going to move Moulson and do so in a fashion that brought back a significant return worthy of a 30 goal scorer AND addressed the departure of Moulson's offense, they needed to do that this summer. Its too late to do that now. The summer would have given Snow a chance to trade for or sign more scoring. That time has passed. I think Snow can get a decent return for Moulson now, but he'll never replace Moulson's offense at this point. They can't go into this season having traded away Moulson's production and not addressed its absence before October 4.

I think a lot of the point mine at least lost in the varying points was come the trade deadline if we realize we have the scoring depth you get a return on him rather than take a chance with free agency.

I think an argument could be made that if we didn't have Moulson all year, the isles may not have accumulated enough points to make the playoffs. As I said earlier, his 44 points in 47 games count as much as anyone else's. Some of those points may have been the difference between the Isles getting a point or two on a given night as opposed to no points at all.
- Jethro09

I don't disagree with this but my debate was from the trade deadline on

So, if someone offers the Isles a fourth round pick or later for Moulson, they should make the deal because at least its something? So, trade away your first line left wing, your second leading scorer on the team over the past four years, your first line PP wing, and severely reduce the team's offense and diminish the team's playoff chances for a mid to late round pick because he might not re-sign here next summer? Again, we'll agree to disagree. You may not see it this way, but there actually is a benefit to making the playoffs, even if you're not a shoe-in to win the Cup.

No because that could be gotten at seasons end for his rights.

Bailey isn't that type of player. He'd be better filling the PAP role of feeder/playmaker. I'd much rather have a big tough finisher in Moulson's role. We don't have that guy in house yet, so Moulson is our best option. That said, I'm not interested in keeping Moulson in that role for multiple years at this point. I think (hope) we can do better

I don't think anybody is disputing that. We would all want that at some point

IDK? What team would sign Clarkson to a 7 year 36.75 million dollar contract? Fine, let him walk for nothing. Great idea. Or even worse sign him to a ridiculous contract and be stuck with said bum for 5-7 years. Makes zero sense. I see your point, I get it. I always did but the way you want this to play out has a bad ending. Option 1 is the guy gets signed to a ridiculously stupid contract. Option 2 is he walks away for nothing. I don't like either of those options . That'll never change

The most hilarious part is the fake laces. Backes even called them "suspect" when he was wearing the jersey at the press release.

At least now the Islanders 3rd jersey is no longer the ugliest jersey in sports.

Eh, it still tops that list in my book. I think they're so bad that I refuse to pay to go to a game when they wear them.

It doesn't have to do with their record while they're wearing them?

They are pretty bad. I just don't know what the people that put them together were thinking and who was the idiot that said, "yeah those look great guys"? Wtf?

Seeing these has me worried about the possible.modifications when we move to Brooklyn... Maybe they'll put a dime bag on each sleeve?

And Cal got into a fight last week while he was in town @ a stag and doe. Punch some mouthy kid in the head a couple times...

I guess the the kid was around 6'4" 230lbs... big Italian kid picked the wrong guy to mouth off too!!!

Good Times!!!

Not a good thing, this isn't the type of thing Wang appreciates... We could see Cal traded before he ever even plays a game.

Fack Wang. He's got to start realizing that most hockey players aren't the little tree hugging fags that he wants them to be.

I didn't realize that most hockey players were bar brawlers.

IF the story is true, that's not the kind of publicity id want for my team. No matter the talent of the player.
