if he boycotted it, it would make a little bit of a stance in canada and russia, but from a global standpoint it would be a tiny blimp on the radar
at best - homiedclown
I'm not even sure it would do that. Back in 1980, the US led a pretty big boycott of the games in Russia due to the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan, where people were actually dying. The Russians/Soviet Union simply responded with a boycott of their own 4 years later in LA. If that was the response we saw over an issue where lives were actually being lost, what makes people think the Russians are going to be shaken by a boycott over what is really a censorship law? |

I don't agree with the anti-gay statements from Putin, but I will still watch the Winter Olympics. |

Waiver...this response is not related to hockey...
I truly do not understand the drama related to this topic.
The Russian authorities, from Putin, to the Foreign Minister, to the Olympic minister/ domestic media have stated that this so-called anti gay law (incorporated by main-stream U.S news) is nothing more then a regulation in which pushing gay propaganda to underage youths is a no-no.
Russia has publicly announced numerous times that the law is in no way a factor in terms of the athletes and/or the advertising surrounding the Sochi Olympics.
Its not as tho i agree with this law in any shape or form, its merely the fact that if this issue surfaced in any southern U.S state for example, the media surrounding this event would have never hit the domestic U.S media, let alone the International one.
My two cents.....

Just drop this stuff. There's hundreds of injustices out there, in a hundred different countries; this world is not perfect. Leave sports out of it. |

Apart from the word "pushing", or in other terms teaching, or therapy related discussions related to minors: the sentence is word for word the legislation that was passed.
Thank you for missing my point entirely....... |

"pushing" or legislation, Would you like your kids exposed to gay propaganda?
Heterosexual people don't have propaganda. Enough said.

That is my thing about it. All of a sudden gay rights in Russia are the biggest disgrace in the world and a lot of media is caught up in it but gay marriage still isn't considered legal in all of the United States. In fact more states have constitutions against gay marriage than they do that permit gay marriage or similar privileges.
If it is so terrible that Russia has these laws, then why the (frank) is the gay community not treated equally in the United States? |

Personally, i don't want my kids exposed to anything related to politics/religion/ or sexuality in a non hygiene way in a public, government funded school.
Most western nations/global north countries have laws against all of the above in reference to public education and yet when Russia follows suit, its a international crisis in which some have called for a boy-cot of the Olympics.
I'm merely arguing the hypocrisy of the issue. |

Thought this was kinda cool...
Armia chosen as one of top10 prospects to become an NHL All-Star within 3yrs
http://m.bleacherreport.c...n-the-next-3-years/page/4
I tend to agree...
Maybe not an "All-Star" that soon, but I'd bet he's scored 30+ in a season by then
He's the real deal |

Fine, I guess I should've changed it to "the people in Ek's chat that are specifically talking about the Yost situation and are in no way systemtool at all, ever".
You get what I meant. - LetsGoBuffalo75
What is this Yost situation? I'm away from HB for a few days and I miss interesting drama?! |
