I'd really like to see the Oilers give Omark a real shot this year and pull off a Brunner. Same age (almost) same height, 4ibs heavier and played in the same league on the same as Brunner and both put up around the same point per game average
- OilerFanFromBC

What is pulling a Brunner though? Getting 3 minutes a game on the PP, padding his stats to a 50 point pace and then sitting in August of the following year as a UFA?

Omark already had a season where he was about 5 points less over 82 games then Brunner as well, so it's not exactly something that is real special.

Because of injuries in our top 6, Omark will see around 30-40 NHL games this year, AND he'll get anywhere from 65-90 points (in those NHL games).

He could realistically get 30+ which would surpass many on this team... I would not say he is a complete right off...

Players get older and more mature... Maybe Omark now knows what he wants and will put in the time for the reward...

Id have to go back and look but I seem to recall he was upset at all the trade rumours ever TDD. When he got his last deal (2 years, 10 mill) he had to "think about it long and hard" to see whether he wanted to be here. Problem is that it was a massive over pay by Tambo and it was Lowe pulling the strings. Lowe has always loved Hemsky. Its been apparent for about 4-5 years that he was not the guy that he was made out to be though. He knows his time is done. You don't put an A on him to motivate him. Any professional athlete making millions to play a sport and needs ANY sort of motivation has no place on my team. They should be giving 100% night in and out. Spending time with kids and fans before and after games. That is what they are paid for. Not just to step on the ice and score goals. Its the whole package that they get well compensated for. (frank) Hemsky. He's done.
- Iggysbff

Well I'm glad we have experts like you around who knows what goes on in players' heads. What was he made out to be? A superstar? Superstars get paid a lot more than Hemsky.

And then he signs with the Flames, and continues to put up Gretzky-like numbers for 10-15 seasons, leading the Flames to 7 Stanley Cups.

Whether you like Omark or not. Edmonton signed him for a reason. They let Rajala go and that kid had talent. They said it freed up a contract spot for us (I think that was Howson that said it). So if they are worried about contract spots (we are back to 47) why sign Omark if you don't plan on using him?

I personally would have signed him and I would play him too. For three reasons. He led the Sweedish Elite League last year. Then next is that he is a better player than brown, smyth, Eager and maybe Jones. Our bottom 6 has almost no speed and no secondary scoring while Hemsky is moved up with RNH's injury. Jones and Omark have a chance at a few points. Jones and Eager have a chance at getting the DJ to play clown music whenever they have the puck. The final reason is because the guy might be good. He might have matured into an NHL player. If our new coaching staff that we brought in to bring the best out of young players can do this for Omark then he is worth something at the deadline.

I think MacT had a terrible summer but he did so because of his own promises. He scrambled to keep them. I think he might turn out to be a good GM and I think he is already thinking about getting something for Omark at the deadline. He knows he screwed this year before the draft even started when there was no ability to get a 1-2 dman. That is why he signed all the crappy ones he could find. He is going to showcase these guys and collect picks and prospects at the deadline. He proved that by trading for 10 picks this draft rather than picking 2 players that might play in the NHL.

He hopefully will then take all those teams pressed against the cap and offer them these prospects he has collected for the players he needs.

Or I am wrong and he should never have been allowed to play that long without a helmet.

haha yes, ze master-plan.

fukkin "Linus"

Funny though, it was good times in that shootout when he faked that slap shot in the mid slot before slipping the puck along the ice under the pad.

I defended that I thought it was effective, thought it did throw the goalie off a little, lord knows it shouldn't have, but it spooked him.
