Id have to go back and look but I seem to recall he was upset at all the trade rumours ever TDD. When he got his last deal (2 years, 10 mill) he had to "think about it long and hard" to see whether he wanted to be here. Problem is that it was a massive over pay by Tambo and it was Lowe pulling the strings. Lowe has always loved Hemsky. Its been apparent for about 4-5 years that he was not the guy that he was made out to be though. He knows his time is done. You don't put an A on him to motivate him. Any professional athlete making millions to play a sport and needs ANY sort of motivation has no place on my team. They should be giving 100% night in and out. Spending time with kids and fans before and after games. That is what they are paid for. Not just to step on the ice and score goals. Its the whole package that they get well compensated for. (frank) Hemsky. He's done. - Iggysbff
Link on all that? Ya know cause you call out Clouts and others for making poop up. Better be accurate and not just spewing your own opinion and trying to move it as fact. |

Upset? Yes.
Fit of rage? I never heard anything like that. I think you are being far too sensationalistic to paint a picture here. - Jeropotato
And if you listened to it in person it wasn't like he was yelling or anything. Just stated the usual, ya I'm not happy but I guess I have to work harder.
Wasn't like Whitney who thought he was playing well and responded with some BS about how he wasn't in the game and look how bad they did. |

The reason he had to think was because he wanted 4 or 5 years at 5mil, Oilers weren't willing to give him that. That was his only thing to think about. His GF being from here is what to me made him think long and hard. It was either take Oiler offer or move to a new city which probably wasn't go to go over well with the hair,. |

I can see why you aren't our blogger, this signing doesn't mean anything at this point. |

It means Linus wants to either try and win a roster spot in Edmonton or spend some time in OKC auditioning for NHL employment elsewhere. |

Either way it only adds value, as minimal as it may be. |

I question if he even goes to OKC, he will go on waivers and that would be quite the eye opener if he goes unclaimed. Then again, maybe it lights a fire under his ass and starts to listen to the coaches.
Either way I don't mind the move, very little to no risk here. Sure he's not the player we need, but at the same time maybe he can build up his trade value enough to be dealt for a 3rd liner with size. |

I think this may be a move to replace Rajala in OKC and beef up Omark's trade value. Then Omark gets his trade, it's win / win for the Oilers and Omark. |

Ryan Garner: Oilers Should Slap The C On Smytty - Ryan Garner
Good blogs so far Ryan - cheers man, welcome aboard.
I'm good with the "no rush" angle with respect to the captaincy.
Eakins seems like an earn it-type coach and I would prefer that though I'm not really sure what effect the open ended approach has on a locker room.
How much of it is just veneer? And how much of it is of cultural importance?
I suppose the last thing you want is an aimless tone throughout the locker room.
If you have to give to anyone right now, I vote the one Sam Gagner. |

I got the impression that this really has nothing to do with Rajala. Sounds like for quite some time Omark has been told if he wants a contract to sign a two-way. Just so happens that it comes days after Rajala (frank)ed off. |

Eberle will get the 'C' -eventually either way you cut it he has the gift of on ice IQ, and the filthiest hands on the ENTIRE team...and for this upcoming season if he can have 2 healthy hands he will be our leading pt getter... |

Because of injuries in our top 6, Omark will see around 30-40 NHL games this year, AND he'll get anywhere from 65-90 points (in those NHL games). |

I'd really like to see the Oilers give Omark a real shot this year and pull off a Brunner. Same age (almost) same height, 4ibs heavier and played in the same league on the same as Brunner and both put up around the same point per game average |

Omark needs to show he can contribute at the NHL level. |

That and people may forget but Omark will now be our best puck possession player in the offensive zone... he may be short but he is tough to knock off the puck |
