Eberle was not the point leader. I am predicting that he will be. Smid I said shouldn't get a letter. Hemsky I said should get one to motivate him because we need him playing top 6 minutes till RNH comes back. What is a letter on Hemsky for a year? I think it was a fair comment. As good as throwing it on Mullet. - Hall Fan
I would rather put the C on an an ineffective player that tries hard consistantly and wants to be an oiler than an inconsitantly effective player that sometimes puts in a mediocre effort and wants to be somewhere else. |

Here is one. I can get more if you want. That was just the top of the google search. - Hall Fan
Tychkowski is the worst sensationalist in the Edmonton sports media. A guy gets scratched and supposed to like it? Anyone who isn't a bit upset for getting scratched has no spot on my team. Nowhere did I read Smyth piss and moan about it, I don't think he even talked to the media. Stop making things up. |

That's what I remember too. Obviously he was upset, but if I recall when he was asked about it he was very diplomatic and understanding. |

Yeah, we'll some posters like to make stuff up to validate their points. Smyth is probably not the ideal captain but its mostly due to his ineffectiveness and the likely hood of him getting scratched a lot this year. Aside from that he has plenty of great leadership qualities. Sucks getting old though. |

Ya, I took exception to the Cloutieresque remark about Smyth "throwing a fit" and having an attitude. That was my biggest peeve with Cloutier was the making poop up to suit his mood or story. |

I guess I don't know that either way. I suppose its a bit of an assumption that he's not thrilled with the losing, moving down the depth chart, etc. Hemsky is a bit of a poker face so I suppose none of know how he feels( but it is a fairly safe assumption that after Mac T's comments this summer that he ready for a new address). Smyth on the other hand truly loves the Oilers and wants to be here above anywhere else.
But good point, I made an assumption and stated it as though it was fact. My bad. |

When has Hemsky ever not wanted to be an Oiler? - Jack-artist
Id have to go back and look but I seem to recall he was upset at all the trade rumours ever TDD. When he got his last deal (2 years, 10 mill) he had to "think about it long and hard" to see whether he wanted to be here. Problem is that it was a massive over pay by Tambo and it was Lowe pulling the strings. Lowe has always loved Hemsky. Its been apparent for about 4-5 years that he was not the guy that he was made out to be though. He knows his time is done. You don't put an A on him to motivate him. Any professional athlete making millions to play a sport and needs ANY sort of motivation has no place on my team. They should be giving 100% night in and out. Spending time with kids and fans before and after games. That is what they are paid for. Not just to step on the ice and score goals. Its the whole package that they get well compensated for. (frank) Hemsky. He's done. |

Come one guys, that was the top. It was big new back then. He was diplomatic on the interview but the press leaked that he was in a rage. That was the top of the google search, surely you can find the rest of them. Either way I thought it was common knowledge that Smyth's attitude went south since returning from LA. We have discussed on these forums plenty of times. |

You are talking about who deserves the C and I agree. I was suggesting repairing the damage that MacT did to get through this year. Hemsky has never shown any sign of wanting to be anything but an Oiler. We turn on him pretty quickly. He was playing with a broken foot last year and would have finished the year doing so if we needed him to. He is not consistent and he is injury prone but he HAS done a lot for the team over the years. A LOT when the team was doing nothing. He was leading in points until March. Gagner and Him were the only people doing anything but we all seem to forget that.
If you like him or not. Slapping an A on him and getting the most out of him helps us get the most for him at the trade deadline. We are just talking about a letter and I was talking about giving it to 4 people thats how pointless it is right now. |

The headline said he was miffed. No where in that article was anything from Smyth himself to indicate a fit being thrown. I remember Whitney being a female dog about the healthy scratches, not Smyth though... |

I will look them up. They will be Edits under this. Here is Krueger.
"We had an honest, open conversation with everything on the table ... We're expecting a gritty reaction from him." - Coach K on Smyth
— Edmonton Oilers (@EdmontonOilers) February 12, 2013
Edit: Quote from Smyth on Oilers Nation:
Smyth: "If you're not angry or upset, there's a problem. I’m a competitor so, absolutely, it’s tough to take. It’s in our nature to play hockey and not sit and watch, but that was the coach’s decision. He felt it was best for the team at the time. We’ll move forward. The last two games I played, I took some unnecessary penalties and it put the team in jeopardy. I have to play harder and smarter.”

I am starting to think you guys know this and are just making me look it up as a joke. If you want more they are the top of the google search. He wouldn't even talk with media at first. |
