I don't know if it equals us getting anything or just getting rid of one of our 9 d-men.
Maybe they get a Miller or Eaves in return I don't know.
I've said for awhile that Potter to Detroit makes a lot of sense simply because Renney is the reason Potter is still in the NHL, so he probably is pitching Potter to Babcock/Holland for depth. - Lahey
Ether way, I've never been a huge fan. I mean he will do in a pinch, but he is a 7th at best. |

With all the additions this year I have no problem getting rid of him. |

Ditto. Belov or grebeshkov can take his place easily. |

Exactly - I'm actually stoked to see what Belov brings and admittedly a little too much.
Finding a late blooming gem for this D-core could not come at a better time. Frankly, the correct and easy risk for Mac-T at this juncture.
But for every late blooming gem trying to make a 5/6 spot - there's a bust attempting the same.
I call heads - he plays well and makes the team.
Hopefully this competition for the 6th spot makes these guys play that much better. And this could go on for much of the year... |

I agree- Omark is a puck possession player that we lack in the offensive zone down low... he can kill minutes and be effective when he wants to... I think the Jones signing is a wasted contract as I too agree he is spent... i hope I am wrong but he was invisible last year and I would have taken omark over 2013 Jones all day... as for Hemsky and Omark linemates- its too many playmakers on one line and no finisher... they need a finisher... further it is like too fragile of a line as well... unless they trade to beat teams by pretty plays with NO turnovers... which we know does not happen... see Hemsky- last 4 seasons... - saskoil21
Well that is where we messed up on getting a guy like Antropov to add strength. Still that highlight reel of Omark showed a much grittier and goal scoring player than we saw in the NHL. I guess we will see. Luckily our overpaid third line center has grit. No finish but grit. |

To me the biggest wild card is Nick Schultz, he gets back to pre-lockout play and we are going to go a long way. Will also give us a shutdown guy to play with these newer d-men that might be shaky. |

Hell yes. And I'm excited for it. Hopefully it was just a transitional thing for Nick and not a lack of motivation for any number of reasons.
Y'know, I don't even recall what he did so wrong last year and I'm not sure on his advanced stats but he did leave us wanting more that's for sure.
And really, he went no farther then the team did but YES he need's to be some measure of the leader he was purported to be in Minny...though that could still take some time. |

The biggest thing that guys like him and Smyth had going against them is being married with a family. They didn't play over in europe during the lockout and I think they feel behind the 8-ball because of it. Now with Smyth I have my doubts to just how much he can rebound, but Schultz was a way better d-man after we got him and was one before we got him. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
This is probably also the case with a guy like Morrow who looked like poop until he started playing with Jagr |

I'm sure even Nucks fans tire of Esplens malarkey. He's the only blogger worse than RC if you narrowed down to every single blogger on the Internet. |

Omark is better than what we have on the bottom 6 as is. Unless Jones plays like he did 2 years ago and shows the improvement he was showing then. However I think that surgery might have finished his career. Still when RNH is back, Omark and Hemsky might be a dominate duo. They have a similar style. Maybe they can feed off each other. - Hall Fan
We need a couple good checking lines. Is Omark good in his own zone? I don't remember. |
