Yes. I want the other teams' players to get hurt. Not seriously injured, but hurt.
Hockey's a rough sport. These guys know it before they play, and it's part of the reason we all watch it. - Fosco

Try watching cricket Talk about confusing. Its like trying to figure out why Weise won't punch the other guy back in a fight, or Phaneuf stands in the corner of the ice while his man is open and eventually scores - Bieksa#3
Whats confusing about cricket? You run between two bases for 1 point, you hit the ball and it rolls over the fence its 4 points, and if you hit it over the fence its 6 points.
there are 50 innings per team and each inning has 6 deliveries. The innings are called "Over". In total there are 300 Balls thrown to each side per match.
When playing defence if you catch a hit ball the guys out. If the player batting blocks the Wickets behind him with his body and the ball was obviously going to go on and hit them if he wasn't standing there hes out.
When playing defence you want to dismiss 10 of there players. Once you've dismissed all 10 of their players, your team is up to bat.
Say the opposing team has played 10 innings, thats 60 ball deliveries, and scored 70 runs (points); but somehow your team manages to dismiss their 10 players. It becomes your job to score 71 points to win the game.
At the beginning of the game both captains meet for a coin toss, and the winner gets to choose if they bat or field first.

You mean a reputation for hurting people because he hits so hard?
Sounds like something the Canucks desperately need.
Every player on the ice has to worry when Raffi's playing.
I'll take a few penalty minutes and a suspension every couple of years if he takes the other teams' best players out of the equation... - Fosco
The Canucks are trying to do what they can to get on the league's good side so that they don't get bent over by the officials again the way they were this past playoffs. Adding Raffi would have put an even bigger bulls eye on the team which is what they're trying to avoid.
Also, Raffi's next big suspension will likely cost him the rest of a season. |

Tea means a meal. The game takes all day, so they have to stop to eat. |

Raffi's next suspension will likely get him banned for life, or at least a full season + playoffs. My guess is, players like Cooke, Torres and of that ilk are going to be the examples the league wants to show that it's cracking down on suspendable hits/repeat offenders. If they didn't have some skill, there's no doubt they wouldn't still have a job in the NHL with all the crap they pull/have pulled.

I don't even think the NHL could suspend Raffi for life on his next incident if he seriously concussed someone. He'd likely have to kill or paralyze someone in order for his next suspension to be a lifer, in which case he'd also likely be charged criminally. Could easily see him getting the rest of a season and playoffs though. |

I seriously doubt that. Without it being explicitly indicated in the rules, that would be a very rash and arbitrary suspension that the NHLPA would immediately appeal as it restricts the players right to earn a living..... |

Massive repeat offender, the NHL would show the numerous incidents of suspendable offenses and the injuries that resulted and it would stand. He's not exactly the poster child for the NHLPA.

The NHLPA would crush it. Don't forget that any suspension of 6 games or more can be challenged through an independent arbitrator. Would be virtually impossible for them to legally suspend him for life. Even guys who have been convicted of criminal acts on the ice have not been suspended for life. Precedent isn't there to justify it. |

No, but both McSorley and Bertuzzi both were suspended for more than half a season and then had to apply to be reinstated once their suspensions were up, there is a precedent there. The same thing could apply to Torres as he is a massive repeat offender who's suspendable hits caused grevious injuries to 3 prominent players (Eberle, Seabrook and Hossa). We're not talking about an one or two time repeat offender, to my knowledge, Torres has had 6 suspensions in the last 3 years alone. |
