The top Leafs blogger got it all

yeah, saw it right after i posted. he's got to know he's not getting the big contract right away. maybe he's doubting himself, if he has a mediocre season or two his price will go down so he wants to cash in right away. |

Crap, well now we're going to lose our 1st line home grown centerman in what seemed like forever. Why the hell did we resign Bozak. I understand Kadri is an RFA, but when he's demanding 5-6 million dollars, he has most likely played his last game as a Leaf. |

From the article at thehockeynews.com, "Oates stayed away from specifics, not promising Grabovski any defined role or amount of ice time, instead focusing on the "puzzle" and the benefits of signing with a playoff team featuring reigning MVP Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and others."

Arencibia sucks.......period.
I like the way Lawrie has bounced back the last month, but there is not much else to be optimistic about for Jays fans right now. - mikeinbuffalo
Remember the good old days when Anthropolous was the golden boy in Toronto and could do no wrong?
And how Uggie would come on here and wank himself raw to the thought of having a GM like him running the Leafs? And how people would chant "Go, Jays, Go" at Leafs games?
That all seems like such an eternity ago. |

If he's demanding 5-6 million, then he's got his head up his ass and it has nothing to do with Bozak. He's not playing on this roster for that kind of money regardless of whether or not Bozak is around.
Some people are trying to make it into a "Nonis (frank)ed up the cap" issue. It's not. It's a "Kadri is a prima donna who bought his own hype" issue.
Also, what's the over/under on how many games Kadri misses this year before he realizes he's got no leverage and has to take a two year deal comparable to Subban's? By all means, he can sit out the entirety of 2013/14 if he likes. I'm sure that will do wonders for his market value. |

They may be the weak link. I think Nonis and Lamerello will hold the line. Regher better stay in line on this one, or everyone's salary cap will get out of wack. - PrinceLH
Sather will give Stepan something like 100 billion dollars and blow the whole game for everyone. |

Doesn't that make it all the more likely that they should have signed bozak? The leafs signing bozak didn't preclude them from signing kadri, if he's asking for 5+ (he's not) and the leafs don't want to pay it (they shouldn't) then signing bozak is all the more needed. |

The irony of everyone ripping Burke and then him getting fired (not due to performance or hockey related) is amazing. Burke is looking so much better as time goes on. I'm fine with nonis, but Burke did a very good job. |

If players of the ilk of Duschene and Subban can take a bridge contract, so will Kadri. Just settle down and breathe. The sky's not falling. |

Agreed. i cant believe the amount if people that think that. just have no clue. I don't beleive the rumors about what he's asking for. Bogus. Kadri tweeted about it last night.

Bingo. The print media and radio guys are dying a slow death, so anything that can drum up the action is headline news.
Did Kadri's agent start the negotiations way back in June, sky high? Probably, but I seriously doubt those lofty numbers were anything but immediately dismissed (scoffed at, more likely) by Nonis et al.
Having said that, it's part of the negotiation process: you start high, end up likely pretty close to where you imagine you'd land (like Mark Fraser, albeit with probably $250,000 more than the club was offering), so if Nonis and them are offering a 2.75 or 3M two-year deal and Kadri gets 3.25M, then the agent can say, "look, I got you more money than they were offering" and the Leafs can say, "we got the term we wanted, but it cost us a bit more AAV". |
