Unless T-Squared is the last piece to another cup run, I don't foresee the kid playing with the big boys this coming season. - Beaver-Warrior
I agree - if only to keep him under contract for another year. |

Anytime. Just giving credit where credit is due.
Also, Harry Carey's bought Shaw's stitches. |

RE: TERAVAINEN'S ARRIVAL
First, MUCH can happen between now and March. He could grow physically and in his game. Or not.
The Hawks could find some players from among the current batch of Rockford candidates. There could also be trades or injuries.
But if you want to look to precedent and recent history, look at Marcus Kruger, Spring 2011. Somewhat similar players (especially in stature) at precisely the same stage of development (both with overseas pro experience).
It doesn't mean Teravainen will be over with the Hawks this Spring. But he could be.

Just some questions:
Again, does it make sense to lose a year of contract control to have him (presumably) play more the 9 games in NA this spring?
T2 is projected as a "sure" top 6 forward: was Kruger? Doesn't a top-6 guy need more development - physically and on the ice - than someone your looking at as bottom-6 talent?
Hawk's have won 2 Cups without T2 - unless they really think he can help win a 3rd in his first North American experience, why rush the process? |

Due to the post cup bloodletting, the Hawks had more holes to fill when Kruger arrived on the scene. Barring injuries, I don't see TT getting more than a brief look late this season.

I thought I'd read that his team is pretty good - if it goes deep in their playoffs, would that limit the time he could play here in the Spring? |

The Devils have re-signed Adam Henrique to a 6 year, $24 million deal. Henrique had an off season least year with 16 points, but if the kid regains his 2011/2012 form this will turn out to be a great deal for the Devils.

Then we might see Teravainen sometime after the middle of March. Otherwise, Teravainen will probably be in Chicago for the start of the '14-'15 season. - EKolb13
I am gonna again intercede with cautious words.
Starting with Minnesota Wild's Mikael Granlund.
Similar body type, style except that Granlund dominated in two years of World junior and also was an elite scorer/set up man in Finnish league play.
Despite the recent prose I read where someone said NO Finnish product was as "super" as Teravainen, I think most would srgue Granlund most definintely looked like a physical roughand tumble attacker when matche dup against the various high skilled entries in World Junior.
I now I was thinking then someone was going to steal him in the draft.
And sure enough, Alexander Burmistrov, Brett Connolly,Nino Niederreiter, and Ryan Johansen all go off the board.
Granlund continues to improve in Finland, amnd finally makes the jump to the NHL lthis last season. He spends time with Cal Clutterbuck, and Torey Mitchell on a line, and other times on a line with Matt Cullen and Devin Setoguchi as a wing.
By the third week of April (with the esaosn starting in January, he gets send down and his team plays June and the playoffs withoout him, despite the fact they traded a very similar player and size and style Johan Larsson, to get Pominville.
I am just saying the highly regarded Granlund wasn't able to seize and opportunity on team that clearly had room, and need and a willingness to let him slowly get going.
I don't think that Teravainen can be considered a lock as fit just like that....
Let's see him doiminate in World Junior, then we can start attempting an early admission program for him....
as far as seeing him play ...we saw Drew leBalnc so a taste doesn't mean a fit, or instant boost to the Indianhead.
I ma not using the ten games up on look sees....
this is all about making sure guys are ready and not rushed, pushed, or praised far befor ethere is any indictaion they deserve it....

I think most of us would agree with you. Fans always get excited about our young top end prospects. I don't know enough about Granlund to fairly compair him to Teravainen. But the one thing TT has over Granlund is his team mates. Not just everyone can fit between Sharp and Hossa (if TT plays 2C) but they will certainly help his game and make life easier for him. Anyone's chance of success playing with Sharp and Hossa is a lot better than playing with Clutterbuck/Mitchell or Setoguchi/Cullen.
It's not a guarantee that Teravainen will make the NHL or if he does that's he'll be a top 6 performer. But as far as prospects go he's given us enough to be excited and hopeful for.

Don't you have to buy tickets to 14 games in 2016 to get the Hawk tickets?
BTW: don't like the US Team jerseys for the Olympics. |

Ogi, count your blessings. At least the NHL stops playing whilst the leagues best players are off in the Olympics. Wish the same was true with the CHL and the World Jr's... |
