I can't wait to watch that. Is there a chance Teravainen could make the Hawks this year?
- jsabey

I realize someone else pointed out that he might play after the Finnish season is over; but I mean is there an outside chance he could make the opening night roster? Does he have anything in his contract that says he can't play in N.A. all year?
- jsabey

I'm just going to throw this out there - you do realize that you answer your own posts, right? And not in a good way. It's more of a creepy way, like my crazy uncle who has regular conversations with the elevator on his way to see his mother in the nursing home type-creepy.

I highly doubt that Teravainen does play in the NHL to start the season. He probably still has a contract to fulfill with Jokerit. Assuming that's true, and Teravainen were to bolt for North America now, I'm sure that would be against the IIHF Transfer Agreement that is in place.

Jokerit could void his contract, and Teravainen could come over, or could be allowed to come over on loan. This would probably involve the Hawks sending over $$$ to Jokerit. I'm sure this is something both clubs wouldn't want to do. Leaving Teravaininen in Finland for this season gives him another season to develop, and lets his ELC slide over to next season.

Jokerit's regular season ends in the middle of March. If Jokerit doesn't make the playoffs, Teravainen could be available to come and join the Hawks at that point, or whenever Jokerit completes their season after the SM-Liiga playoffs.

The thing I'm unsure about is if Teravainen were to come over, how many regular season games would he need to play in order to be eligible to play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs? If anyone has an answer to this, I'd love to know.

It would make no sense to bring over Teravainen this season unless he could play in the playoffs, and be an effective player on the team. As mentioned before, if Teravainen plays more than 10 NHL games, he essentially starts his NHL contract. Burning a year of off his ELC makes no sense unless he can legitimately help the Hawks win a Stanley Cup.

I think the chances of Teravainen coming to North America this season are pretty close to none at all.

Teravainen will start the season in Finland. At most he'll join the Blackhawks after his season is over in Finland.

Teravainen is a great prospect and we're all excited to have him join the team. But there's no need to rush him and playing another year in Finland is probably the best thing for him. Long term we need TT in the lineup, but it's not like the Blackhawks are in desperate need to add him.

Unless injuries to key players happen. Then we might see Teravainen sometime after the middle of March. Otherwise, Teravainen will probably be in Chicago for the start of the '14-'15 season.

One of these days you and I will meet up for a game, and I'll be telling elevator stories to you over beers.

Don't know for sure, but didn't Smith play only one regular season game before replacing Hossa for that one play-off game?

I see no reason for him to come over at all this year, or to play for the Hawks in 14-15: he still has a lot of physical growing to (hopefully) do, and I would think needs a full year at Rockford to get used to the North American game and ice.

I would be absolutely stunned if TT were to spend a full year in Rockford.

ok. ...i can see that you all want him to grow and get big and dominate. that is great. i think we could put some extra pads on him and he could play right away.

Obviously, you didn't read the post above.

There's the idea that he's still under contract with Jokerit at this point. Anyways, would it really be worth bringing him over this season just to burn a year off of his ELC?

Maybe in the spring Teravainen can come over. However, the only reason he comes over at that point is because he helps win the Hawks a cup this spring.

i think his trajectory is huge, he could do it. no need to count him out just because we have 3 others who think they can do it better.

But most people say he still needs to mature physically - put on weight, gain strength, get stronger on his skates.

Why rush him until he is ready?

Did it ever occur to you that the organization has the intentions of leaving Teravainen in Finland this season and that Teravainen might still have a contract obligation to fulfill with Jokerit?

Am I posting responses to a guy who only listens to posts of himself?

You're posting habits give me a bit of a headache, but what makes you think he's "the best man" anything, except maybe a brother's wedding?

All we've really seen here really are small you-tube clips.

The Hawks have won 2 Cups without him: no need to rush him for any reason.

I'm assuming by now that most of us have read either the below article or a similar one elsewhere.

http://espn.go.com/blog/c...inen-a-year-away-from-nhl

He needs another year to grow. If his agent says he needs another year before he can contribute significantly, why are we still questioning this?
