I think look at the team after 20 games and see who has stepped up and who has failed. We know Torts will ride Edlers ass ,and that may be exactly what Edler needs to keep his head in the game. I think some will surpass and some will fail . I think at this point wait and see what we have. Give the kids a chance (Schroeder Jensen Corrado Lack Mallet Archibald Kassian and Tanev)

We may have a diamond in the ruff in one of our prospects. Even a guy like Lain Torts may sit down and tell him this is what you need to do to be a NHL player.

I like Neal, but unless there's a puck distributor, that's a whole lot of shooters in the top6...

Kassian can pass, although I wouldn't call him a "playmaker", and Schroeder is usually a "pass first" player—hopefully one of them can step into the top6 and excel.

What is interesting is the teams that are at or over the cap. Those are the teams I would be looking at to see if they wanted to unload some salary. Offersheeting just opens up a whole lot of trouble for yourself in the future.

Yep to all this. Oddly there doesn't seem to be that mindset in the GM's office. I truly wonder how Gillis sees this team and what's been ailing it.

If we acquired Neal I'd put him on the Sedin line. That's the only way he'd see something close to the PPG numbers he's posted with Malkin at C. But of course that doesn't solve the hard fact of the past several seasons - we are a one line team.
