This - AlexF
But is that what those charged with running the organization think? |
|

I said it had to be by mutual consent. - AlexF
Still won't be approved by NHLPA. |

What would happen if Luongo retired after the Olympics and came back next year . Would Vancouver have penalties and would they have the option to give up his rights when he returns? |

Yes, if Luongo retires then they have to pay back the cap savings (a little over $1m for the following 8 years) from the first few years. I think if he "un-retires" he still has a contract to honour, but I could be mistaken. |

I doubt it since the contract won't come off the books. |

If he wanted to be a Dyck he could use that as leverage to be bought out. |

Except that if he retires he's not going to get another contract, so he'd be being a dyck to himself as well. |

So if Kovy decided to return and the Devils were at Cap Max they would have to take him back? That doesn't seem fair. |

Are you suggesting that it is "more fair" that he is allowed to come back as an UFA? |

He is going to Team Canada gathering next week. It avoids all the media circus he would face there if he didn't speak prior. - VANTEL
Agreed. |

It would be exciting. This way we could have the draft, TDL , Free agency before the start of the season and Retirement UFA day Jan 1 . |

For luongo to "retire" under the current circumstance he would need to sign papers. Meaning his contract would be terminated, Vancouver would have like a 900k cap hit for like a century and he could never play in the NHL again.
If luongo really wanted to terminate his contract with no cap hit, he could simply refuse to play. So he's full on shyt. |

My favorite part of this is how Dreger said at the draft Lu found out from the draft he was dealt and the aqunini went to his house after to smooth it over. Funny how luongo has a different story. Tells all young need to know about how gutless and pathetic dreger is. Should be working with NBC or CBC as disgraceful as he has become |

To the KHL it is. I actually can't imagine how much he would get over there. First Canadian superstar to defect |
