Canadian teams have a hard time attracting top UFA's now. Lower the UFA age and Canadian teams will have almost no chance of competing for the cup because the top UFA's will sign in warmer places. I doubt many Canadian teams would want to continue to play in a leage where they have almost no chance of competing. - Al Hacker
Oh, I forgot, everyone wants to play in Florida. |

First of all, as already pointed out, there would still be a salary cap, which means salaries have to be split somewhat evenly across all NHL teams.
Secondly, why does warmth of the city suddenly become the biggest factor in where a player signs?
Thirdly, if warmth was such a big factor, why would Vancouver have a more difficult time signing free agents than Toronto and Montreal?
Fourthly, as Canadian teams create the most revenue for the league, why would they suddenly die off so that players can play for teams that lose money annually?
Fifthly, how do these teams that lose money annually expect to be able to compete with the large amount of money that could be offered by rich Canadian teams who make money hand over fist? |

Absolutely!
PP#1
S. Sedin / H. Sedin / Kesler
Edler / Garrison
PP#2
Higgins / Schroeder / Burrows
Hamhuis / Bieksa - 1970vintage
I would like to see Bieksa Garrison on 1 st PP ,this way you have a RHD and LHD .Edler is a shoot first guy even though Garrison has a better shot. Don't forget Weber who is suppose to be an offensive RHD for the PP. |

An offer sheet to Franson or Kadri would be matched unless it was a ridiculous amount of money, which would only hurt your own cap situation moving forward. If the Leafs had to trade someone else to fit them into the cap (Liles) they would just to not lose one of those players for nothing.
Offer sheets are very overrated. - KB3Point0
If you pushed the price up on the Leafs it would leave them less room to sign Phanuef and Kessel nect year. Nonis and Leafs hate us anyways. Canucks could potentially have a boatload of money next year if the Sedins give a hometown discount and Lu is moved. |

Remember when all those fans of other teams were slamming the Canucks in June for having a disaster of a salary cap situation and that they wouldn't be able to even fill a roster?
By my calculations we have somewhere around $1.2M+ to spare. |

Sedins signing 1 yr, $2M contracts sure would make things interesting! |

I would take him back at 600 K. Use him like we did Ebbett last year for callups. It could make him get hungry and learn you have to give 110 % every shift. |

I think they have more than $2m but still need a 13th forward. CapGeek says:
Cap Space $2,847,222
Which doesn't account for Alberts $600k but does assume that Corrado makes the team and that Weber is the #7/8 dman. |

Yeah, I got 2.2 Mil left with a 13th forward to go as well as Gillis's comment "we have more cap space then what gap geek says." |

I liked Raymond, he had 22 points in 46 games last season and I thought he was vastly improved in the not falling down every shift category. I bet if he had a full season with Schroeder and Hansen he would put up 40-50 points and to me that's worth the $2.25 he made last year. |

Not on this team. We have too many better wingers. If he wants to play here he will take a huge cut.
There is a reason no one has signed him . |
