Wow. Basically described Toews who is amazing on his skates. Skates amazing every direction.

But like I said, those attributes are debatable.

My question earlier was name Stamkos' great attributes without naming offense.

Crickets, crickets.

Toews has offense, defense, leadership, plus/minus, faceoffs etc etc.

Every a question is asked about Stamkos it's always the same response just in different words. He has more points.

This blog isn't about points.

- robhawks

i think stamkos is a much better skater.

and i even said in my post that stamkos doesn't have the selke like defensive ability right now. but it's not like he's phil kessel in his own end either. and with the work he puts in off the ice, i'm sure that will improve on the ice.

DUDE, he scored 60 goals;
60 goals and 96 pts>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 32 goals 76 pts

its not even close PT wise, sometimes, assists are really overvalued.

- Danformo

Wait, what? Assists are overvalued? Don't assists essentially mean goals?

look at the teams hes had,
if you had them switch teams all of Toews numbers would decrease,

but Stammers would increase

- Danformo

that's pure speculation. So you're assuming Toews won't take more of a scoring role, and Stamkos won't defer to teammates if he was on the Hawks?

Assumptions aren't facts.

There are players that are great, and there are players that make the players around them better players.

That's fair.

But like I've been saying for pages now. Toews doesn't really have anything he needs to work on.

Hence, the choice is clear.

Put it this way

Datsyuk, Bergeron, Toews same class

Stamkos, Crosby and sometimes Ovi are the only ones with that goal scoring capability

to me this is the answer to why most cup winners aren't built around pure goal scoring talent.

it doesn't exist.

Why is it difficult to grasp that some "abilities" or "intangibles" are much more important than others? Goal scoring is 100x as important as winning a faceoff and until you realize that there's no point going any further. Having intangibles is a fancy way of saying you do all the little things very well, things that make you an all around good player. Being an elite goal scorer is what makes you a superstar and league MVP. See the difference between intangibles (the little things) and goal scoring (the big thing) ??

Because most of the people who vote don't understand the game. Just like for the Smythe. It's always about points.

Not nearly enough about the work, sacrifice, hockey sense, faceoff wins, killed penalties, etc that make points possible. And yes, the guy who delivers all of the above including points IS the most valuable player, even if the sheep who vote don't get it.

By that same logic, Alex Mogilny and Rob Brown had years where they should have been in consideration for the Hart. Jiminy Freakin' Christmas.

Which is why I will take a Steve Yzerman, Pavel Datsyuk, Mark Messier or Jonathan Toews to start my team any day.

People can say what they want about Mike Babcock's credibility. Just know, that says something about theirs.

Thank you JJ. It's the players who give you every hockey aspect at elite level. I can hear the homer calls now.

Crosby is a bit of both lists. That's why to me he is the best. Toews next because Crosby is crazy on offense plus many other things. Considering Toews might be Canada's captain really says a lot.

if the Smythe is all about points why do goalies win it most of the time? and did Kane not deserve it? and all of the players you choose to start your team are great choices for sure. but stamkos isn't? he's above the points argument. he's an exceptional talent. and i think most people realize rob brown only produced what he did because he skated with lemieux.
and what qualifications do you have to say that the NHL hockey writers are all sheep that don't know what they are talking about?

He didn't say stamkos wasn't a guy you could build a team around, he just said that given a choice, he'd take the more well rounded contributor versus the guy that is a pure scorer. Chill, dude. It's just a choice and it doesn't render your choice less valid.

Ovechkin getting voted on the All-NHL teams at 2 different positions. It's pretty clear they don't watch everything. Not that its possible to with the work they have to do, but many hockey writers eventually move on to cover something else, or started out covering something else. IDK who gets to vote in Chicago, but if Chris Kuc, the Trib guy, does, then it backs up anyone saying the voters for that stuff are definitely flawed.

i'm sure there are examples of this. but i just want to know what JJ's qualifications are to call these people sheep that don't understand hockey? most of them certainly do.
