I am still not sold on Lander at all. He may end up being an AHL injury call-up guy his whole career. Having Smyth wobble through the year as the 4C probably isn't the worst thing in the world. If he does fill that role, hopefully Eakins can pry Ben Eagers head out of his ass a-la Colton Orr.

I would say 50% of RC blog material was garbage. Obviously too much. Even tho I am sure it got him posts.

Blog #1 Wasn't as well written but had a better entertainment feel. He added in Yak to his blog, I think, primarily to add some interest. Kinda 90+% relevant and 10% speculation/opinion. A much better mix.

Where this one is seriously 100% accurate. I don't disagree with anything this blooger says. Its almost scary.

Huge props for his accuracy but I think he needs to somehow make it a little more entertaining.

- Aerchon

I think 50% is an understatement. Out of 7 blogs a week, RC would hit one out of the park and the rest were just whore blogs to attract attention. I never had anything against RC, but he is just such a homer, and his opinions were about as legitimate as a 3 dollar bill that I stopped reading his blogs, and the comment section turned into such a clown show I came to hockeybuzz once a week or two weeks at most last season. If the next Oilers blogger can post this type of material on a regular basis and just give a plain honest pregame and postgame blog to read and comment it would be a good thing for HB.

Agreed... As long as the next blogger doesn't turn into RC we should be fine.

Just simply giving an analysis of the game, and talking about a rumor here and there from actual NHL sources would be a great start.

I noticed you had Joensuu on the third line while RNH out and then Jones when he is back, why the switch?

Joensuu hasn't done anything at the NHL level to indicate he is more than a 4th liner at this point. Smyth or Jones would be better on the third line.

- rathagor

Switched them because well, there's gonna be a lot of switching going on this year. Joensuu hasn't proven much at the NHL level YET, but he has the tools to be an excellent third liner. 6'4, solid hands and willingness to use his size? I like the sounds of that myself. With Jones, he could either come back to his level of play from 10-11 and 11-12, or he could struggle to produce and remain largely ineffective like last season. Only time will tell

I dont see why the consensus is brown outta the top 12?
He was more effective or at least brought something more tangible than either of smyth or jones down the stretch.

And he added an important element we didnt have much of.

Of course best case long term, we'd like someone of his low talent to be replaced.
But as of today i think he should be penciled in

I will say this right now, if someone gets the job that needs help with the rumors I will give them my knowledge.

Some don't know where to go, but I have no problem helping out. As I offered a couple times with Clouts, but he rather make crap up.

On Arcobello, he's not the best option as the second line C. That would be Gagner. With RNH out, people are going to have to fill higher roles than they are meant to. It could be interesting to experiment with Hall at C, but Arcobello getting some games at C is just as likely if not more. Mark has proven a fair amount to the organization over the last several years, and he's familiar with the kids, which is why I think management would give him a shot. Mark isn't a great skater or a big guy, but on a line with guys like Perron and Eberle, he'll have someone he's played with before in Jordan, and two forwards who can handle and retrieve the puck well. Also, that line wouldn't have to play huge minutes. A first line with Gagner, Hall and either Yak or Hemmer can play tough minutes. As could a trio of Gordon, Hemsky/Yak and one of Jones or Smyth. Going into the season, Edmonton needs to spread out their depth as much as possible to be an effective team.

Very solid energy guy, fights and is a good solid NHLer. Will always be a fourth liner but should have a fairly lengthy career.

I love it...

Feels strange not having these threads full of pissed off fans from other teams.

- Reveen

I don't know if you folks read it, but someone stuck a blog up on the Edmonton Oilers website. Looks like it came from a writer with NHL.com. I'm not sure if he knows anything about the Oilers though. Anton Belov was lower on the depth chart than Corey Potter and Philip Larsen and it's Oscar, not Oskar.

Sigh.

Why the Oilers haven't hired me by now to work for their website is anyone's guess.

This is from a blog clout's wrote today on oilogosphere. Glad to see he is the same old blogger who thinks he knows jack about hockey and the oilers. I'm sure he will be getting trolled there plenty too.

Is that "referee" title a clever joke? Or have they truly gone made and given someone in these threads their power trip?

That's pretty much what I try to do. I know I'm not the best writer in the world so I try to add a little entertainment to entertain the readers but still keep the blog informative and accurate.

P.S. I'm the guy who wrote the 1st blog.

That's the thing, if someone can assist with it and use actual sources, and not "Garfield" or whatever other Twitter idiot posts, or worst of all, making something up, there can actually be an informed discussion about it all.

A real good blogger would jump all over the assistance when they are offered, "hey Mr. Blogger, I can compile my twitter feeds and news releases from legit sources and give you a nice overview of current rumors".

The hacks will ignore it and say "Eberle being shopped for Yandle, discuss".

MacT had a lot of praise for Arco in his two-way game as a potential 4th line C. I was a bit shocked how much praise he really gave the kid.

Well this is quite (frank)ed if I do say so myself without any revisions.

So what kind ref you going to be? One that gives us a chance and deletes tasteless pics, or a female genitalia that just bans because he can?

Nope won't ban just cause I can. I work in a bar so i deal with drunk idiots all day long I get to throw enough them out doing it on the internet won't give me a power trip (I don't know how it does anyone). Just want to keep the peace and let you guys enjoy yourself without have complete a-holes coming in trolling you. We all know you can't post tasteless pics so they will be deleted if people keep doing it then obviously I take more action. Most will get warnings unless people go way overboard with derogatory comments. Anything else?
