"I know I’m being pretty reasonable, taking all that cap into consideration when really, that’s not my job,” said Kadri. “I did my work over these past three years. I did exactly what they told me, trying to be the player they want me to be. I think I’m well on my way.”

Doesn't sound like a guy demanding $5-6M to me. I think he's looking for a JVR type deal, or maybe he wants $4M on a bridge so he's set up for $6M+ on the next one...

still too much, but not miles apart. 2 yrs, $3M per, though more then he should get, will likely be where it ends up.

(frank) Toronto reporters are terrible.

http://www.thestar.com/sp...ntract_talks_drag_on.html

Tavares’s salary cap number is $5.5 million. Kadri was also a point better than Colorado’s Matt Duchene, who was picked four spots ahead of him in 2009. Duchene is being paid $6 million a year.

Both players skipped the so-called “bridge deal” that has become in vogue among GMs. It is the “bridge” between entry-level deals and unrestricted free agency.

Duchene makes $3.75M this year with a $3.5M cap hit. How (frank)ing hard is it to check Capgeek before you go to print?

Duschene starts making 6million next season, not this one.

he's not all the way wrong.. just skewing facts to make his point

media nowadays.. the furthest thing from truthful as you can get

he said Duchene skipped a bridge deal. Duchene signed a 2 yr bridge deal with a $3.5M cap hit.

He said "IS BEING paid."

he's all the way wrong.

the point he's making is Tavares and Duchene didn't sign bridge deals, so Kadri doesn't want one...

Duchene signed a bridge deal...

honestly 2yrs/$5.5M is what he should get ($2.75M per) IMO.

Subban is excellent example (as much as D can be) - PK was their #1/2 dman for 2 years of his ELC, and still got him in at $2.75M. Why? consistency and complete game.

Kadri's not even top line yet. $3M is the most he should get. Duchene's $3.5M he was already their 1st line C and clear franchise player.

Oh, I meant the Duscnene deal. He got a bridge deal but before it was close to being over he;s already guaranteed 6 mill. I was just saying that may have been part of the crap articles point... Then again...

I'm going with $2.345.

Last time I had a number in my head for Gunnar and he signed exactly for it. But I never put it out there, so I lost bragging rights. can't miss another one.
Without bragging rights, my awesomeness is severely wasted.

It looks like that may be the case. And yes Subban got what he got but he also sat for a while, it will be interesting if Kadris agent or himself make the decision to sit out and try to force the hand. Don't see it working though. Wonder if he'de take one year at 2.5 and go from there. All i know is usually what seems logical on price and term ends up being more, so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets overpaid.
