1.80 GAA and .940 SV% are unreasonable expectations. The team's defensive game will have to be much better this season. Even Mike Smith's game improved when he moved to Phoenix and their more disciplined defensive game.

Yes, that's unreasonable. But I don't think that 2.40GAA and 0.910-20SV% is unreasonable.

if lindback can get "comfy" and make that 1.80 GAA .940 sv% consistant, then theres no doubt in my mind that i am 100% with him....although after 2 months he finally showed what he was capable of, it was only 5 games afterall. the consistancy has yet to have been revealed , but right now if lindback was continuing that game through training camp and pre season i would start him...

BISHOP: started his stint as a lightnig with a 45 game shutout ...i mean lindbacks stats during those 5 games were impressive but that poop is just rediculous...if he can keep that up and keep up the solid goaltending we seen from him with the lightning (numbers arent good, but he was by himself back there) then it is going to be tough to beat him out...

with that said, if lindback shows consistancy coming from his injury i am with him all the way

- RileyB77

Duh, ya think?

Any goalie that posts 1.80GAA/.940SV% "consistently" has EASILY won the #1 job and is likely walking away with the Vezina.

You might want to temper your expectations.

It's going to be one or the other. I don't see Yzerman making a trade, with the Bolts right up against the cap. I also don't think Helenius or Desjardins are a threat to steal a job away. Both Gudlevskis and Vasilevskiy are signed up to play in Europe next year.
- PeskySens

Desjardins and Helenius aren't knocking down any doors right now.

See how TC goes, then pre-season and if it's still not decided just go with the hot hand and then switch when the hand is no longer hot.

With a 2.60 and a .910 we would be playoff bound.... Easily!

yes sir , but lindback managed to keep us in it, 1.80 GAA and .940 sv% when ur averaging 30 shots a game is unreal, so is ben bishops 45 game shut out and great play after that too

new system = better lightning IMO, i think we may surprise a lot of ppl this sseason but i could be wrong

- RileyB77

I agree, he did go on a tear, but as a whole Lindback's season was less than stellar. A .902% save percentage coupled with a 2.90 GAA in 24GP. I think Bishop is the clear cut favorite and I think Tampa's 'D' will get better this season.

I see a number of similarities in MacLean's game and Cooper's game, actually.
- Michael_Stuart

I agree. I'm really excited for Bolts fans to see what Cooper can do in a full season. This guy is the real deal, and a great hockey mind.

yeah, like ive mentioned in a previous post and a previous post before that....it was just 5 games, but during those 5 games he was proibably still facing an average of 30+ shots, it could of been a lucky streak..it could of been the start of something wicked before he got injured, who knows...ask arty he knows

not meant to be rude, i just reread it and it didnt sound friendly

I like Tampa but it's hard to imagine in a division with Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Boston, Detroit and Florida that Tampa will finish anywhere higher than 6th. There are just too many uncertainties; No legitimate starting goaltender, the pressure on Drouin to perform out of the gate, if they will get enough secondary scoring from Purcell Filppula and Malone, how inexperienced the team will be with Johnson, Connolly, Killorn and Panik all slated to make the team etc... Just too many question marks in my mind... not to mention the health of Matthias Ohlund and the age factor for Salo and St. Louis... will it kick in?

i disagree with almost everything
drouin has no pressure when we have st louis and stamkos putting up enough points to be the top 2 scorers in the league, we have scoring theres no pressure on him to score at all

a healthy malone and purcell and filpulla line is a great 2nd line on any time in my opinion, if that is even the 2nd line lol

you are talking about the reigning art ross trophy winner, right? .... salo had a decent season with us, he did was he was brought to do ...st louis age is nowhere near his skill level lol

Maybe Boston, Montreal, Detroit and Ottawa are ahead of us, but Toronto was because of a shortened season and Florida just sucks ass.
