But then who plays the other 41 games? There is no one proven behind him.
Also, I see a problem with the system more than the personnel. - rmdevil313
That is sonething I've always had a problem with too. Not so much the players but what surrounds them. I've always been a huge critic of management and the coaching staff. Though I still want a new coach there is definitely a new feeling around this team. For the first time in years I truly believe that the whole organization wants to win. The players now knkw what it feels like to win. You could see it. I couldn't be happier with this core and I'm confident with the direction they are going. I also believe clutterbuck is going to add a lot to our line up. Much more than most people think. I was extremely happy when we got him even if the price was a bit steep(to me). The move to Brooklyn will only help the winning momentum... Hopefully... |

I actually like the coaching gameplan and system. But think about it
Hamonic and Visnovsky are the only defenders that are truely top 4 Dmen
MacDonald? Strait? Hickey (although he was a rookie) all 5-6 Dmen
And Streit is complete garbage defensively
Also a strong bottom 6 helps defensively
And to answer your goalie question: I don't know |

I think that's a concern for most isles fans? Nabakov was good during the reg season, playoffs not so much. Our defense is mediocre imo. If hamonic has another strong season and Donovan is truly ready and poulin can play a decent twenty or thirty games we will be ok... Those are the two areas snow really needed to address. I really wanted ferrence and either emery or bernier. There weren't many options unfortunately this offseason. From what I read/heard snow made a play for Schneider but Gillis was high on the kid he drafted at nine, he didn't want to take a chance at fifteen. If these kids are ready we will be in real good shape if not we will be battling for eighth or hoping for a decent draft pick. This conference to me is very up in the air this season. Nothing would surprise me. - Cptmjl
Don't mistake this for me saying the Isles are definitely missing the playoffs. Its just the current division is so tight that the last playoff spots are going to be decided by whoever can cover up their weaknesses the best. The Devils could easily miss, the islanders could easily miss, the caps could easily miss etc. Its probably going to come down to the last game of the season. Big reason why I hate realignment. The old atlantic routinely sent 4 teams to the playoffs and thats pretty much all you can send in the new format. Then factor in a better islanders team, two of the better SE teams, and the vezina winner from last year and a lot of good teams will miss the playoffs.
I also thought Bernier would have been a good pickup for the Isles. It seems like you definitely should have had the pieces to match or better the Leafs offer. |

Thanks. We aren't posting on our blogs anymore. We have another area which is fine. Sorry, didn't think it was a problem posting with fans of other teams? |

From what I understand snow offered Gillis the fifteenth and Nino. If I were Gillis I would've done it but he wanted the ninth. |

Somebody explain to me why Pittsburgh is clearly the best team in the Metropolitan division this season?
Suspect goaltending, defensive core and forward depth. Are we just regurgitating the same Crosby & Malkin theory as to why they are head and shoulders above the rest because that is not enough in an 82-game season.
Best top six, on paper, forward-wise, what other reasons are they clearly the dominant team? |

In the regular season, I wouldn't definitively put anyone above them. The playoffs however is another story |

well you have to put the isles above them now i mean they beat them twice in the playoffs and the players now know the taste of winning and they will go 82-0
then when cran comes in no one can beat the rangers unless they fall asleep where they would only lose in a shootout when they leave the net open because they have a powerhouse offense that beats any team in NHL history combined with a D that is tighter than virgin, and a goalie that has all his holes filled |

Every single year the Penguins are considered a Stanley Cup favorite. Haven't they been knocked out in the 1st-2nd round the last x years? |
