curious where you got the length of Gillis's contract from, when he was extended I don't remember seeing the length of the extension anywhere.
- Isles_since_6

I believe last off-season he had a year left (which was this season) and he got a 5 year extension.

Placing the home town coach who hasn't coached a game yet over one of the best coaches in the league in Dave Tippett, eh? Did you not want to lose the tie with San Jose?
- BetterCallSaul

Off the top of my head, I honestly can't think of when a Dave Tippett finished higher than Torts...2008 or something maybe?

Yet, so many experts on here think Tippett's a far better coach.

He made the playoffs last year, Tippitt did not
He was a couple points off the Prez in 2012, Tippett was not.
He has a Jack Adams, Tippett does to
He has a Cup ring, Tippett, nope

Question

Babcock, better coach on the Ducks or Red Wings?

where did you find that info? I never saw anything where the length was made public, and Gillis refused to disclose that info.

good lord man. Compare the talent Tippett's had to work with and then look at the results.

compare the rosters man...tippett is working with arguably one of the least talented rosters in the entire nhl for years.

you can rationalize it any way you want, but tippett is one of the best, best, best coaches in the entire league and torts, while still an elite coach, just got fired because he underachieved (a team with rick nash, marian gaborik, brad richards, ryan callahan, and more on offense along with arguably the top defense in the league and the top goalie in the league) and his team "quit on him" and he was too stubborn to change his philosophy and adapt to a new, changing NHL.

Not sure where you'd find it now, but I'm pretty sure I remembered hearing it was a 5 year extension. Not sure what the dollar figure was. I don't think they ever released that.

I like the assistant coaches the Canucks hired, but the head coach is a nutbar.

I don't know, a Jack Adams and a ring make it a little more predictable I'd say.

I think this has the potential to blow up like keenans tenure in Vancouver. Two pig headedguys in gGillis and Torts who have very different styles of hockey they prefer along with very short fuses. I can't wait

Just skip a day or two here and there, you know you won't miss anything important, and it keeps the frustration level down.

I do. When I see the thread going down the sewer quickly I close the page on concentrate on customer service.

By the way, the See You Later Pinot Noir is fantastic, if you haven't tried it yet.

Haha pretty sure every single team in the league would take Tippet over the recently fired Tortorella, and I would 100% rather have Eakins then Torts.

If Scotty Bowman wanted to return to behind the bench would his coaching be in question because he hasn't won a cup since 2002?

I agree on Tippett over Torts. Eakins is a wild card. He is like a blue chip prospect. He has looked very good at every level but now he is in the bigs and the jury will out until he has success at this level.

I'm sorry, I can't rank a team that had the 25th ranked PP and 22nd ranked PK any higher than fourth.

I know the team isn't the most talented, but those rankings could be higher.

He's a good coach, but he's 4th in a very good group of coaches.

- IanEsplen

Weak arguement

Rangers with a much more talented roster and Torts in charge powerplay was only .9% better than Phoenix's and their PK was only 1.2% better.

If you're using PK and PP ranking as a critieria, Anahiems PK and PP were both ranked much higher than Tort's Rangers.

Why? because the game has evolved so much that the greatest coach ever wouldn't be able to figure it out?

If Bowman announced that he wanted to coach again, owners and GM's would be tripping over themselves to get him under contract.

Quick question...

If I have a choice for a better processor (Intel i5 vs i7) or 8gb RAM vs 12gb RAM, what should I go for?

Depends on what you use it for. If you are only going to use 4 gb of RAM then 8gb would be plenty and you wouldn't have to spend the extra money on the 12bg.
