That wasn't the discussion. Some Canadians get so offended when you make a comment about their national team.

Why, did you say something about Team Canada!? Tell me!

Right thats what I meant, or I meant Canada with its forward depth can have a sniper like Tavares or Perry having to play on the 3rd line in a shut down role vs that States who can have guys like Callahan, Brown, Backes, who can play the type of role with their style of play and let the snipers like Kane, Parise, Ryan, Kessel play the top 6 offensive roles.
- DDM-Coga

Sure, but I think the Canadian team will be OK with defensive minded forwards like Toews, Begeron and Couture.

The main issue for both the US and Canada could turn out to be the larger ice surface.

If the American D play well enough in front of Quick and he plays anywhere close to how he played in the post season the past 2 years, the American's could end up taking it - see Nagano 98.

For all the Price haters out there, I have two questions:

1) Do you think Chicago would have won the Stanley Cup with Price (playing behind that elite defense core)

2) Do you think the Habs would have made the playoffs - or finish 1st in the north east with Crawford. (behind that poopty, easily pushed around defense core)?

No.
Yes....in a shortened season. I don't think the Habs would have finished first over a whole season anyway.

Yes, clearly Chicago would have won the Cup if they had Price.

No, Crawford would not yield the results he had in Chicago in Montreal. Crawford was the beneficiary of a great team. He is a good goalie, not an elite one.

Canada wins only if Hamhuis and at least one other Canucks skater are on team Canada.USA wins if Kessler is captain or has an A. If both scenarios play out then it is up for grabs with Canada having a slight edge.

I would have answered your questions, but I'm not a Price hater. I just don't think he should be handed the Team Canada job.

That why I say Price should be ahead of Crawford for Team Canada.

Price hasn't had a good defense core since he came to Montreal. They are all decent players and Subban is one of the best in the league. But as a unit they are very VERY weak. Im just hoping Emelin is healthy and Tinordi makes strides in his development because they can use the toughness.

You can't ask these questions in a CAP League.

Last seaons Price made $6.5MM on a team just shy of the cap, Crawford made 2.67 on a team just shy of the cap...

In order for Chicago to have price, they'd have to lose a high paid player. And if Crawford was on Mon, they would have room to get another top 4 d-man or top 6 fwd.

I don't think it should be handed to him either. The first half of the season determine this. I would just rather have Price on my team now than Crawford

Why don't we watch the players play from Oct to Feb before we make this decision for Stevie Y?

I was just comparing the two goalies as who is the better goalie with the same elite D-core (Team Canada)

As for the Gold...
I think it's a toss up.
The Canadians have a lot more stong fowards that can play a little faster, which would help on a large rink.
The Americans have by far the advantage when it comes to goalies.
As fo D-men, Canada has more depth... but the US has 7 or so top quality d-men that can match up with Canada.

Keep in mind that these games aren't as physical and with the open ice, Players like Licuc, Keith, Suter and Weber AREN'T as important as the Kanes, Yandles and Towes of the game.

man, I thought you were going to go a different direction with this... like that Canada wouldn't stand a chance since Crosby and a few other would be banned from the country...

I don't think it's fair to punish the players who might get one chance in their lives of playing in the olympics. If something is going to be done, it should be the IOC doing it. They didn't allow South Africa to compete in Tokyo in the 1960s because of apartheid.
