On the big ice offence will reign. So i'm saying Canada vs Russia final. Canada has the most talented offence. Russians are used to the big ice. In terms of defence and goaltending i think Canada has the edge.
My guess is 5-3 for Canada over the Russia
USA takes the Bronze over Sweden 3-2 |

the US will generally never have the talent to beat Canada on paper.
it'll take some fortunate bounces, gritty play (harder to do on the larger ice), and decisively winning the goalie duel for the US to win gold. - hiway39
The states are made for this style of tournament. Canada usually has a team of superstars playing roles on the 3rd and 4th line. United States has their super stars playing top 6 roles and their 2nd teir talented playing the role player 3rd and 4th line roles, which is not to far out of their comfort zone. |

you no I would like to say Canada 100% wins. of coarse because there isn't a hockey nation to hold our jock strap.
now listen up right now. and I say this because even the best elite teams lose on a given night if the goalie is poop. now I say this because of my penguins. the team cant be touched when the goalie is hot. but you all saw with your eyes that we lost 3 of the last cups we should of won because of crappy goalie. goalies that crack under pressure.
now ill tell you something I fear. I fear this carey price be relaxed all year and make the team as starter. then when the gold medal comes he will choke just like maf and vokoun and cost us the medal. as much as I hate we have to play luongo or even a Crawford that won the cup.
but it pains me to see all these star hard working players in our country lose a medal because of one man between pipe that chokes.
now I tell you something else. Canada can lose a gold medal game because of goalie. but if you take lets say a #2 team and put it aganst a #2 team from usa or Russia or Sweden then the #2 team Canada will smoke them. #3 team Canada will smoke them. #4 team Canada will smoke them and this go all the way to the higeest number possible. and THAT is why Canada is the best. not because of one piece of poop game that a goalie can choke. |

The USA have better defense and way better goaltending.
Canada's goaltenders are a joke. I don't predict they'll make it to the medal round. - Pierre.McGuire

You really have confidence in Luongo and Crawford?
Watch them get lit up like a Christmas tree. This is an International ice rink. Your goaltenders stink. |

I disagree, on paper at least.
Also, everyone is trashing Canada's goaltending, yes it is the weakest spot on the roster, but what if a team like slovakia had Luongo? I'm guessing a lot of people would be saying they have great goaltending. Its all relative because you expect it to be on par with 3 all star teams worth of forwards available |

These Olympics will be a farce.
Between the PEDs/blood doping (Chinese and Russians always involved), shady judging (figure skating etc.) fixed reffing (CAN and US will be in tough) and the ever present "host country bias" (as per IOC wishes), the Russians will run away with these Olympics.
It would be pretty interesting to see where the Russian Oligarchy, Putin and his cronies have placed their bets with the billions being syphoned off the $50+ billion "price tag" for these games (over 5x the previously most expensive games, London). Knowing the corruption that exists in Russia today they'll stop at nothing to finish first, especially given that these Olympics are supposed to be one of Putin's "crowning achievements."
Would anyone be shocked to see a Russia vs. ? final, with Canada and/or The US getting screwed somewhere along the way?
My apologies for the dose of reality... |

How presumptuous and a little narrow minded.
It could easily be Sweden vs Russia.
If you are talking Women's hockey.... sure, I would take that bet that Canada vs USA would probably be the Gold Medal game.... but in Mens? That's just putting the cart before the horse. |

Crosby will be locked up in jail USA wins.
But seriously, if they meet again it should be a close game. Assuming Quick is the starter, he very much so has the ability to steal a big game. I could see him doing that on the international stage.
I think the Russian team will be helped along though to be honest. |

History tells us clearly that Russian Judges have fixed games and so have French Ones. Those two are just off the top of my head.) |

The US have 4 stronger options than Luongo and Crawford.
You could even argue that Gibson is a better goaltender.
Canada hasn't developped a great goaltender since Brodeur. Until they address that, they aren't likely to do anything in International tournaments. |

By this logic Tyler Bozak should be on Team Canada instead of Tavares. |
