Moe Syzlak could help out there.

Had no clue who that was. Had to google it. I haven't watched cartoons since Scooby Doo, circa 1982.

I dont understand why its such a big deal honestly...

Me neither. It's not like the guy makes day-to-day hockey decisions or is poaching things from the Flyers.

Really....to me, I think the guy is throwing his money away if the Devils franchise is tethered to it's current location in New Jersey (or, tethered to New Jersey, at all).

I wish Mark Cuban owned them.
- jmatchett383

Mark Cuban likes to own athletic franchises that actually draws fans regularly.

The Devils (or the Sixers for that matter) don't fall into that criteria.

I don't think we'll see much hockey. NBC Sports has the hockey contract. Hopefully Fox Sports 1 is better than ESPN and NBC Sports. They are both difficult to watch.

The only thing on ESPN I like is the College Football pregame show. I like NBC with Tony Dungy and Dan Patrick for the NFL.

So....Ted Nugent shooting a bow and arrow into a school of endangered fish from the passenger seat of a Nascar vehicle(?)...while it jumps over the Mississippi, while on fire--at least 8 hours a day, then?

In my world, money that is spent at Sixers games goes in to the pocket of the owner of the Devils, who then spends it on the Devils so they can compete better against the Flyers.

Josh Harris could have a large event where he sets actual paper currency on fire and probably make more money off of that event than he will as owner of the New Jersey Devils.

I really wouldn't sweat this.

Yeah, this. Plus, it's not one big pot he draws from. I'm sure the finances of the Sixers and Devils are kept far apart from each other.

But hating the Sixers, I'm down for it.

What bothers me is that when they bought the Sixers, they kept saying "We're real Philadelphians and thats why we want to make this franchise great."

Then he goes and buys one of Phildelphia's biggest rivals.

BURN HIM!

We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune! We're taking turns to act as a sort of executive-officer-for-the-week. But all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting by a simple majority, in the case of purely internal affairs.

I posted this on the other blog, but I was wondering what everyone thought...

So the topic was raised about Laughton and his chances of making the team, and then furthered with the pros & cons of playing in a 4th line role in the NHL vs First line role in OHL...

I just read part of the Laughton debate.

I remember Homer saying after they sent Laughton back to juniors, the main reason was because he needs to get bigger and stronger for the rigors of the NHL.

He has added 15lbs of muscle since then. Was he offensively dominant for the Generals? It depends on the definition of dominant...

Just to feed thought, look at his stat line from two seasons ago to this past season..

64 games- 21 goals- 32 assists- 53 points +8 (.8ppg)

49 games- 23 goals- 33 assists- 56 points +22 (1.15 ppg)
Including the playoffs:
56 games- 30 goals- 39 assists- 69 points (1.23 ppg)

For a second line center, who is primarily known for his defense... his expanded ppg average over 64 games (74 points) would have him in the top 20 in points in the league.

So.. since the Flyers drafted him, he has managed to play in 5 games for the Flyers while not looking out of place, albeit needed to get stronger.. Goes back and IS dominant... one of the more dominant players with the likes of Sean Monahan (who was a 1.3 ppg player, getting first line and go to guy minutes), added 15 lbs of muscle, and in his 6 appearances for the Phantoms had 3 points...

So what does he REALLY need to do to make the squad.. If he comes in and is an upgrade to guys like Hall, does he make the squad.. or does one year in the OHL really prepare him that much more for next season?

To me, he comes off as an owner who doesn't care about winning a championship. He wants to get the franchise good so he can sell it for much more than he bought it.

He's no Ed Snider (I know Snider isn't the 'owner').

Speaking of Snider. How do you think he feels about being part of the group who sold the Sixers to Harris, only to see him purchase a rival NHL franchise?

Can he be given a 9 (or 4)-game tryout this season? I totally lost track of what was being said on there.
