I think with Torts in charge, Henrik will be a 3rd line shutdown guy. I see the lines more like.

Sedin Horvat Shinkaruk
Booth Gaunce Kassian
Burrows Sedin Hansen
Higgins Lain Archibald

- Scooby_Doo

Wouldn't that be something

Gilman just said on the 1040 the Canucks do not intend at this time to go after a top 6 forward, but are looking to upgrade on D

I keep hearing the Canucks keep kicking tires on Douglas Murray.

Maybe he can have a comeback year. I like his toughness.

I'd like to see his toughness back there too. I get the feeling it's more of a message to Tanev though.

Kesler in the pressbox with Richardson, Weise and Sestito?

I would too , He may get beaten on the outside but he can clear big players from out from in front of the net.

Ah, of course. I guess the Nuge'll be lining up beside Lain on the 4th line then?

According to Gilman
Looks like a Booth / Kesler second line.

Gilman is a pretty candid guy answering the tough questions. Open about the Ballard /AV relationship candid about Lu

Their biggest need at forward is 3C. If they feel Gaunce looks ready to fill that role then adding a top 9 guy (like Boyes) would be about all they would need to (or could) do to upgrade the forwards.

Upgrading their D would be nice, but I don't see a tonne of options at the moment. Maybe we could trade for Ballard?

I think they are counting on Gaunce or Schroeder. The province had an article the other day saying Gaunce was the best player at the team Canada tryouts.

Also sounds like they are goiung to roll out four scoring lines.

My guess is still:

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian
Booth - Kesler - Burrows
Higgins - Gaunce - Hansen
Santorelli - Richardson - Weise / Sestito

Still a formidable lineup. Don't underestimate them.

Probably. I wonder where Jensen and Schroeder fit in?

My guess is they're hoping for Gaunce but would potentially use Schroeder if Gaunce wasn't ready yet.

Rolling 4 scoring lines is a good idea. Richardson, Santorelli and Weise could certainly add some speed to the 4th line. If they could pot some goals and play sound defensively the lineup actually looks very good.

I had hoped Jensen would be ready for this season, but all reports I've read are that he hasn't progressed like it looked 2 years ago that he would. I'd love for him to play his way onto the 2nd or 3rd line. Having the depth of a guy like Higgins on the 4th line with Richardson and Santorelli would be pretty awesome. Would certainly help enable Torts to roll 4 lines. 18 mins each for the top 2, 12 each for the bottom 2, keep everyone fresh and healthy for the playoffs.

I don't think Schroeder fits in as anything other than a spare part. I think he's the type of player that will only excel in a top 6 role, and I don't see one available for him here. He'd be a great insurance policy in case one of the top 6 got hurt, but I wouldn't waste my time with him on the bottom 6.
