Its not always about how many pts you score. He is valuable in many other ways, But he will put up his fair share of pts this coming season. Im sure of it

I'm a huge proponent of this. Just clearly don't appreciate his two-way game enough.

I get that anyone outside of Philly really isn't going to care too much about this. But Gags coming home was one of the few bright spots last year. I feel Coots could learn a lot from Gags about playing good Two-way hockey and when to step up.

Is it just me, or is Gagne fairly useless now?

And by useless I mean not worth the injury risk and low production.

I think you may be right. Couts could turn out to be damn good. Look at the moves he made 2 springs ago against Pitt! Schenn most likely will turn out to be another Richards if he's lucky

Hattricks in the playoffs are no luck. Shutting down Malkin is not luck either

B. Schenn will never be close to Mike Richards. At best a 3rd liner forced into a 2nd line role because there is no one else to put there. Offensively and Defensively, average at best. Skating and work ethic...horrendous. B. Schenn WILL NOT be a Flyer in 2015, count it.

What's useless about Gagne? Probably the BEST on the team, if resigned, defensively positioning? Still faster than 3/4 of the team? Top 1% on the team when it comes to work ethic and leadership?

Gagne is still a 15-20 scorer, if healthy and given proper ice time (some PP, more likely SH). For 1.5-2M a year, he is that guy teams search for during the trade deadline.

EDIT: Meant for person you replied to.

How can you so accurately project Schenn as a failure? The kid's 21. Most prospects aren't even in the league at that age. I don't think he'll ever be a top line talent but it's very likely he develops into a 20+ goal power forward. His skating is far from horrendous. And even if it's not great there have been plenty of players who have overcome that shortcoming to have productive careers. And how exactly do you know about his work ethic? Are you in the room? At practices? There have been no reports from anyone about his work ethic. And he usually puts out a lot of effort when he's on the ice. The kid can hit, score, and pass, give him a chance to progress.

I love how some Flyers fans deride the front office for giving up on young players too soon, then turn around and proclaim Schenn a bust bc he hasn't had 20goal season yet. It's very possible, playing on the projected line with Simmonds and Lecavalier, that he breaks out this season. But even if he doesn't they shouldn't give up on him. Some players develop at slower paces. And just bc he's not Mike Richards by the time he's 22-23 doesn't mean he won't become that player when he's 25-26.

Agreed, and lets not get all crazy about Mike Richards now like he was some flyer God and a superstar. He was decent at offense, great at defense, average at faceoffs, and an OK leader. Schenn has the potential to reach Richards status. I think the kid has more god given skill then Richards. I say give him a little time.
