Some are speculating he'd consider holding out just like Benn did. You know St. Louis is hoping for a bridge contract, but Pietrangelo (and his agent) knows they can strike while the iron is hot.

Now that we have our 2000's team assembled, how do get cap compliant?

P.S. I friggin' hate the cap.

Funny thing about this 2000's team is they still wouldnt win the cup if that team was a realistic possibility.....Cechmanek is the weak link

In sure the Blues would love a 2 year 7 mil (total) deal, but after watching what JBo got, he knows he can get 7 per for 5+ years if he fights for it.

Whats going on with Pietrangelo anyway. He still isnt signed and the Blues just extended Bouwmeester??? Shouldnt Pietrangelo be first priority? Contract talks must be going dead......
- GOA88

He's going to be signed. It's no doubt a complicated negotiation with both sides trying to get the other to blink first. The big question -- and the reason why this is probably going to go on until training camp or even right up against the start of the season -- is whether he signs a bridge deal or gets the huge money/ max length contract right now. But when all is said and done, he's going to be in St. Louis for a long time to come.

Thats why St.louis is stupid for signing J-Bo to that deal, His contract isnt up until next summer. Pietrangelo is still gonna argue that he at least deserves Letang money...he probably deserves more IMO. Letang is overrated. Just a forward playing on the blue line.

Still bitter about the Brind'Amour/Primeau trade. Always liked Brind'Amour. Primeau impressed me in that one playoffs but otherwise it annoyed me to watch him as opposed to Rod. Glad he won that cup.

So what does Holmgren have up his sleeve? Surely we dont enter next season with this defense.... Do we???

People's perceptions of Cechmanek are WAY out of proportion. He won two Bobby Clarke Trophies and was a Vezina finalist on merit (and that was on a Barber team that was just average defensively). He wasn't even THAT bad in the playoffs, but he had two absolute clunkers in elimination games.

I was at the game and left the arena when I saw Kane celebrating. I didn't watch the Cup ceremony, either.

It was such a bizzare feeling. I was thinking for a second why did everyone throw their gloves and sticks on the ice? Pure dead air. Horrible. I waited (mostly in shock) until I caught a glimps of the silver of the cup coming from the tunnel and then I left the place in digust.

I liked him when we had him, I thought he was great, and in the playoffs he wasnt that bad either, but those soft goals out weigh the big saves. everytime

Me2. Exactly. 2004 playoff run and the 5th ot goal in 2000 otherwise, he basically had stone hands.

Brindy is among my top 5 favorite Flyers.

Philly has an interesting crowd. They seem to value effort just as much as success. If you show the fans you're leaving it all on the ice, you get a pass. Brind'Amour worked his butt off and it showed. He fit the town like a glove. Not sure if you can work harder at your trade both on and off the ice like than that guy did.

Now if you're a highly talented athlete that appears lazy, well...you know what happens.

He just gave way three games later than his teammates did.

EDIT: I began to despise sports talk radio in this area after Cechmanek was traded away. The unlearned behind the mics influenced the local view of Checko.

Is it just me or does anyone else miss those black flyers jerseys? I would like to see at least an alternate jersey made up...

I remember working at the Acme in the 90's and some dude said Brindy had stone hands. I wanted to push him into the trash compactor. 33 goals = Stone hands.

No. About 20 teams in the NHL have had some sort of cash grab black jersey. The Flyers are the Orange and Black, not the Very Black with some White and a splash of Orange. Also, the 90's are over.

Oh what might have been if they traded Brindy instead of Forsberg... I wish I never heard that. That is something I never knew, and wish I never new...

MOAT would have Crims on his side for having traded Foppa to Carolina for Primeau.

I don't mind the black jerseys, but I love our current home and away sweaters. I might even take the previous away jerseys as the alternate instead of the black.

Hindsight is 20/20. Lindros when healthy was the best in the league. You cant predict that he winds up with concussion problems and when we traded Brindy for Primeau. That was under the assumption that we would have 2 big centers, which in that era was scary to face up against. Lindros then Primeau. If Stevens didnt give that cheap head shot to Lindros, That combo at least makes the finals that year.

I do wish the NHL would go back to whites at home and dark sweaters on the road.
