Damn, it's dead in here tonight. Time to open the gates of purgatory and let UG out, to get this place livened up. I wonder if him and Tee Dot are sharing a cell.
OK, some legit hockey talk. Once we get Franson and Kadri signed, if we can move Liles, should we be looking to add a Mason Raymond on the cheap? He might make a valuable contribution, as a fill in on the fourth line When we play a speed team like Detroit, we won't need to use both of our heavyweights against teams like them. His speed may be an asset. Raymond has speed to burn. He would be a good replacement for Matt Frattin. |

Id honestly sign Douglas Murray for more assurance on D... Raymonds spot can easily be filled with a young gun from our system like a mckegg/damigo/ashton if needed be...
Gunner Phaneuf
Fraser Franson
Gardiner Murray
Ex: Ranger
Helps Bernier/Reimer more plus murray is a beast with his hits/fighting/and defensive skill especially on penalty kill |

I don't think that we have any legit young guns that are ready to make the jump. Getting Raymond for one year at the league minimum is a cheap insurance policy. Who knows? With the right coach, he may regain what made him a valuable commodity, when the Nucks made their run to the finals. Injuries happen and we could stand to add some experienced depth. Raymond could fill in on any of the bottom 3 lines in a pinch. |

With the money left over, even after JML is gone, will we have enough to sign Murray?

there is no cap space for new players. They will have to demote somebody just to sign Kadri and Franson.
They can get those 2 done... just barely, but they won't have 2 nickels to rub together to give to Raymond...
Colborne's in the lineup opening night, if for no other reason than it's now or never, and he has a $600k cap hit.
EDIT: alright I guess this was part of the "if we trade Liles post above..."
even still, they will have to retain salary on Liles to trade him, which means they likely won't have $1M left over (after signing Kadri and Franson)
rather keep it incase they have day to day injuries and need the space for a call-up.
can easily put somebody on the 4th line - D'Amigo, Ashton, hell Biggs, and move McClement/Colborne up to 3rd, Kuli up to 2nd, etc... |

Lets say kadri signs at 3M. Franson signs at 4M. And we traded liles away completely.
With excluding holzer and smith going down to minors and keeping ranger we would have about 3M left in spending. Which is more than enough or even a little less in the 2M-2.5M range to sign a guy like murray for more assurance on defense in the toughness department and more defensive minded defender. Which we can easily run then a 21-22 roster easily |

While that could happen, it'll likely be hard to move Liles completely.
What does Murray offer exactly? He's Komisarek in waiting. It just doesnt work with 8 one way defenseman already.
Getting a guy like Raymond or another high possession defensive player. Wellwood, LaRose and so on. Hell, Wellwood is money on the draw and could push Bolland to the wing.
Bolland - Colborne - Kulemin
McClement - Wellwood - Orr/McLaren
D'Amigo
Like... so many possibilities. |
