Sorry, grew up a Sox fan. But I do remember Pat Piper from the background on the WGN broadcasts. Melgard used to play the same song after every hawks game while a bunch of people smashed paper cups and made the loud popping sound. As I walked out after a game it smelled like beer and my eyes were stinging from the cigarette smoke. The 2nd balcony could barely see the 3rd period through the smoke after the tv lights were installed.

Cool. After I threw that accusation out I used the Google Machine and found out that was his new band; will have to check them out. I know Portnoy is an amazing drummer but the whole prog thing with Dream Theater, was never really a fan of. Don't mind some prog rock but found them to be a bit overkill with the instrumentals.

Saw the Cult last night in Detroit. It was a good show. Have seen better from them and could have been amazing had Ian laid off the booze and actually sang the songs instead of ad libbing on most.

That's disappointing to hear....The Cult is one of my favs. My brother was huge into Dream Theater and I would always say to myself the band is to intense but the drummer is amazing.....Winery Dogs rock....incredible show. Richie Kotzen is an amazing guitar player....uses his thumb no pick........and a great voice as well.

There's no way you could do a lap during the intermission at the old building like you can at the UC. At the northwest staircase to the 2nd balcony in the Stadium there was a low ceiling about 1/2 way down. The workers who were going to sweep and clean up after a game would pee on that ceiling just before the game was ending. Watching drunk people dodge the ensuing rainfall was a lot of fun. When they would trip and fall it was a long way down that section of the staircase.

I'll give Portnoy, and the whole lot of Dream Theater, the credit they deserve: They are fantastically talented musicians, and are really damn good at what they do. I saw them open for Iron Maiden once, and (despite the fact I couldn't tell when one song was ending and another beginning)I thought they were enjoyable.

That said, I think their music is rather boring, very indulgent, and a little pretentious. Different strokes, though.

They did suck. But considering it was a mix of athletes, it could have been A LOT worse. Besides, I don't think they had a lot of time to practice. I think it was during one of their seasons. Can't remember what time of year they toured or had the concert. So you saw it, too? Do you remember any of the other songs they played?
- tomcat24

True.

I never saw them live but I saw them on tv; local news or a talk show possibly and they were covering Heartbreak Hotel. They could play it; it just wasn't very good.

I know people would like to be known for having multiple talents but stick to what you know and are good at. Eddie Murphy-comedy. J-Lo - dancing and having your picture taken...stuff like that.

Chris Peters ‏@chrismpeters (Editor of US Hockey)
I was at Kane's last NJEC and it was a pretty dominant performance. This year, Teravainen's been on a different level than everyone else.

Sounds like the Teuvo Teravainen show continued today in Lake Placid. One scout told me, "best I've seen at [NJEC] since Patrick Kane."

Corey Pronman ‏
Teravainen with a filthy shootout goal because why not.

Teravainen gets another break but just misses the hat trick. Then almost sets up a goal. #BeastMode

Teravainen on a breakaway. Tie game. Have mercy.

Teravainen just made a flip pass from his own end over 3 SWE players to hit a streaking Kapanen on the wing and completely meant to do that.

Teravainen with a beauty backhand on a penalty shot. 1-1 game. What a week for him.

Good lord! It sounds like Teravainen is really tearing it up. I'd have to think this kid has got to be in line for some kind of job in the Hawks top six in '14-'15. Maybe sooner, if the injury bug hits the Hawks hard this coming season.

I'm hoping he really has a great year centering his team's top line this year. He really could be the answer to our 2nd line center. I hope they stress faceoffs. This year is going to be hard to repeat with the short summer, another rough and compressed schedule with the olympic break, and some injuries to key players. But 2014-2015 looks like we can be another powerhouse with the insane depth on lines 3 and 4 to go with that incredible top 6. A bottom 6 of Shaw, Saad, Kruger, Danault, McNeill, and guys like either smith or morin or maybe even hartman is nuts

I watched the Stanley Cup Championship video from iTunes, I think it was well done.

A couple things stood out in the video:

1. The really showed Kane as an on-ice leader, lots of positive stuff about him.

2. There was lots and lots of Saad, both in the highlights and interviews.

3. They showed lots if Frolik and Bolland, it was nice to see those guys weren't left out because they were traded. I'm sure if there were some Stalberg highlights they would have been included too.
