Keep pumping your tires. Youve won exactly 0 cups in over 30 years of futility. Your not on the same level as the Wings. Sorry to say. I actually cheer for Philly.
- TandA4Flames

Yeah I get we havent won the cup in awhile, I used the word "competetive" They compete for the cup on an annual basis, they sure as hell try. They ice a good team every year for the most part.

Also Chicago and Boston didnt win for over 50 years until recently but sucked for many years before. Now they are all of a sudden a more successful franchise? They werent any different from Philly until the last 3-4 years. Flyers are due. The cup will come during the Giroux era. Im confident in that

The problem is you guys have the mentality that in order to rebuild your team you must get rid of all vets, tank, play the kids and hope for the best down the road.

There are other ways of rebuilding a team as well folks...such as: bringing in talent to insulate your youth (Wideman, Hudler), move guys that dont fit your long term plan for younger players, draft well and continue doing so until you begin to have a strong roster again.

Regardless of what the media says or wants you to believe, these GM's and owners arent stupid.

Tell the fans they are rebuilding and planning on tanking - ticket sales drop

Tell the fans they are planning or hoping to compete and aim for playoffs - leaves hope in fans to come back next year.

Keep in mind gents, its a business to them and they need to ensure they maximize their profit margins by selling tickets etc...by ensuring the team stays relatively competitive while rebuilding is how a team can accomplish this.

Comments over, Colin wins. Thank you for saying this. It is exactly how I view this issue but phrased more professionally.

Wheres our cup? Well it's the same one (or roughly) as the one lifted in Chi town this year. The banner is hanging on the rafters and I'll tell you this, '89 feels a heck of a lot better than '75.

Way off the board? Poirer and Jankowski I assume? I for one think Jankowski is going to surprise in 2 years but I'll give you that one. Poirer is not that far off the board. He was roughly around 30-35 on most professionals draft boards. The Flames felt he was good enough to not miss. ~10 spots earlier than the shaky mock drafts (who had Hunter at 8 or 9 I might add) is not WAY off the board. Nice try tho.

What about the other 17 picks. Who caresabout off theboard. As long as the player tirns out and we won't know that for a while.

How's your prospect pool looking? Bottom of the pile bub. Enjoy.

There really isnt a debate on who the better franchise is between PHI and CGY. Get real.

The fact that you think you can claim to be a better franchise speaks volumes. In case my point gets lost and I look like a homer, I mean nobody can claim to be a "better" franchise. Unless you base it off last years performance in which case, the mismanagement of that much talent scares the poop out of me more than a team trying to recover from a stretch with a terrible GM (Sutter).

Dude, this entire site is based on debate. You vuys have goe from SC finalists tk being early knock outs. Your current team looks better for sure, but you're GM is a bit of a mad scientist.

When Philly decided to sell a couple years ago after a good run, I was excited for them. Still am. They have prospects out the waaazooo and talent coming up together. Last year was such an odd year for the team as they should have been much better. Defensive break downs and shaky goaltending cost them a lot.
Scary upside and tons of potential. I always enjoy watching a good Philly game.

FLYERS - WINS=1779 LOSSES=1337 TIES=379 CUPS=2 CUP FINALS=8 PLAYOFF YEARS=36

FLAMES- WINS=1456 LOSSES=1318 TIES=457 CUPS=1 CUP FINALS=3 PLAYOFF YEARS=26

You do the math... The flyers have the best record since the original expansion in 1967. I would say they are a succesful franchise.....

The problem isn't always the pick, its the comments following the pick like they had those guys ranked even higher...it reminds me of what Burke said about Rielly, basically saying if he had the 1st over all pick, he would have picked rielly over yakupov...

Horvat, Gaunce, Jensen, Shinkuruk, Schroeder, Corrado...The only 2 flames prospects that i would take over ANY of those guys is Baertschi and Monahan

Maybe u didn't know this but CGY wasn't part of the '67 expansion. Your numbers mean nothing.

Obviously you are biased then. I'd take Gillies over Shinkuruk at the very least. Don't know much about Gaunce or Schroeder but I'd sure as (frank) take Gaudreau over all those guys except perhaps Horvat.

That we played against different teams, for different years, during different eras of hockey. Your bragging about a time that you likely weren't alive through. That's cute and all but rather pointless.

Gaudreau, Knight, Gillies, Broissoit, Klimchuk, Poirier, Wotherspoon......... Your lagging behind. Youre where we were 3 years ago.
