Aren't we technically still in the 1st year? Since the trade deadline last year.
- TandA4Flames

Imo...Feaster went into last year in preperation for a tear down. He wasnt blind to what was inevitably coming and I am sure he made phone calls to GM's long before things started to get worse. Its certainly debatable, but for me - this is the 2nd year of rebuild.....well...1.5 year

As long as Feaster is the GM.... Good Luck! He didnt win the Cup for tampa. He took over when the team was already built and then completely dismanteled that team and made them losers again. and now look at you guys. Feaster is horrible
Feaster also has a horrible draft record, look up the draft picks he made for tampa. They have all collectively played maybe a total of 10 NHL games.

Stamkos has amazing stats for playing in less than 10 games

I actually don't attribute our good drafting since 2011 to Feaster. I think John Weisbrod has really turned the page on it.

Every single player from the 2011 draft looks to have a shot at making the NHL, if not on the bubble. The 2012 draft still has lots of question marks as well as the 2013.

- kickazzflames

Weisbrod wasn't around for the 2011 draft. He was hired after that draft was complete.

I'm quite interested to see who grabs the leadership role on this club this season. For a couple players (Glencross/Giordano) who seem to have a little fire in their character, it could be a breathe of fresh air. It'll be interesting to see who else steps up out of the shadows with the departure off Iggy & Jaybo

I don't buy that Feaster went into last year with the preperation for a tear down. They wanted Iggy signed for a life time contract last summer but Iggy wanted no part. He then went and paid big for Wideman, picked up Hudler and tried to offer sheet ROR. That does not scream rebuild to me.

Feaster after the trade deadline even admitted that he read the team completely wrong. Make no mistake Feaster and KK were in full denial going into this season and really thought they would make the playoffs. They pretty much had to have a hammer dropped on their head to realise the rebuild was necessary. I am glad the hammer dropped.

Fair enough but Feaster likely wouldn't have signed Wideman and Hudler (let alone a 5th + for Widemans contract rights) if the intention from the start was to rebuild.

The problem is you guys have the mentality that in order to rebuild your team you must get rid of all vets, tank, play the kids and hope for the best down the road.

There are other ways of rebuilding a team as well folks...such as: bringing in talent to insulate your youth (Wideman, Hudler), move guys that dont fit your long term plan for younger players, draft well and continue doing so until you begin to have a strong roster again.

Regardless of what the media says or wants you to believe, these GM's and owners arent stupid.

Tell the fans they are rebuilding and planning on tanking - ticket sales drop

Tell the fans they are planning or hoping to compete and aim for playoffs - leaves hope in fans to come back next year.

Keep in mind gents, its a business to them and they need to ensure they maximize their profit margins by selling tickets etc...by ensuring the team stays relatively competitive while rebuilding is how a team can accomplish this.

I'm not trying to be the biggest Feaster supporter, but you're wrong. The franchise was already in the ground. Feaster has done an adequate job of giving this franchise some direction again. Even before the proclaimed rebuild he managed to move salary and give breathing room. He also improved our prospect pool by a large margine.

Perhaps you should worry about bang up job Gillis has done for you guys. Are you even going to have a goalie to start the season?

Im sure the Flyers have something to worry about as well...to have iced the rosters they had and not find success kinda, well, sucks. Especially seeing how the Flyers have been cup-less since 75

At least we are the 2nd most competetive team behind Detroit for the last 20+ years

Maybe they will need to borrow a goalie while they negotiate with Luongo. Its funny how things change.

Any idiot with ownership of the 1st pick in the draft would have picked Stamkos. Thats not an achievement

I don't disagree with any of this. I guess we see the intent of bringing in vets like Wideman and Hudler differently. I have no doubt that Feaster thought long term as well, hence the term on the contracts, but I also have little doubt that the priority, likely mandated from ownership, was to make a run for the PO.

I know Feaster was trying to "retool" and that attempts at ROR was in line with that. I just don't see that as the same thing I guess.

Keep pumping your tires. Youve won exactly 0 cups in over 30 years of futility. Your not on the same level as the Wings. Sorry to say. I actually cheer for Philly.
