and they should be.. you are trying to get people to like your team, what better way then subliminal and biased broadcasting - SabresFaninIndiana
I agree every team announcer is a homer. But a guy who commends Matthew Barnaby for attacking Garth Snow, and in the same breath bashes Eric Lindros for pummeling Barnaby, is a bit much for my liking. Granted, the Flyers announcers aren't much better. |

I don't think the Flyers guys are that much better. I deal with them because they're the feed I get. I'd prefer their radio team, honestly.
I really enjoy the Wild, Washington, and (somehow) Florida's announcers. To me, RJ sounds like he has a mouthful of marbles, and sounds like some odd chicken-cat hybrid who's dying whenever announcing a Sabres goal. - jmatchett383
Just curious, but have you really ever heard anyone with a mouthful of marbles? Because I know it is a popular saying around here, but in my whole life I have never encountered someone with this. |

I'm just bustin chops. Both Rick and Rip deserve their place in Sabres history.
Unfortunatley I don't see the Sabres winning much of anything in the next 3 years, but it would be magical if the last game RJ called was a cup win. - sambarugh
It could be the Cinderella story of the NHL that year. |

The Deadline appears to be the solution to everything, according to Darcy. |

Maybe they can get a first from Boston for him. |

Anyone who attacks Garth Snow, regardless of the situation, SHOULD be commended. All jokes aside, if Snow was prodding and screwing with me after I took a crosscheck to the neck, I'd be quite pissed too. |

He prodded him because Barnaby was (obviously) acting like he was dead when he was perfectly fine. |

Its usually women anyway. Not a good comparison to a guys voice. |

Yeah, they were pretty much doomed since they moved there (as in North NJ, from Colorado). |

I get it but, this is happening too frequently in the NHL. The league always owns or controls at least one team, and there's always a group struggling badly and were constantly shuffling them around the continent to make it work. Its just not good. |

A lot of it has to do with the economy itself as well. A team that merely treads water is going to suffer as soon as bad times hit financially. People are looking to cut back. Attendance at a sporting event that you don't care too much about to begin with is going to be one of the first things to go. |

Can't wait until the league welcomes the Google Red Wings into the NHL. |

That's a factor, but I blame the league and its inability to manage the salary cap. Look at the spending frenzy this offseason, and we were 7 months removed from another lockout.
Another factor too is the Canadian dollar last several years being on par with the American dollar combined with the fact Hockey is everything in the Canadian markets. Back in the 90's when our dollar was worth as much as 65% more, Toronto's higher ticket prices balanced out their willingness and ability to spend. Now its 2 different worlds. You cant expect half the American markets to compete demand and price wise with Canada. |
