Burrowing Owl Syrah usually about $40/bottle which isn't cheap but it is one of my favorites so I usually buy a case. Also, I love having lunch there.

I'm going to book here for mid-september. I'll have worked 110 days in a row at that point so it should be a nice break.

I'll be visiting the vineyards on the black bench which produce some great deep reds, although pricy.

It has to do with the length of growing season and intensity of the sun in the region. Canada will never grow quality RED wines, we do have the length of season for the big reds. Pinot fine, but no Cabs or Shiraz can mature here.

to your knowledge has anyone ever tried growing grapes indoors? not hydro because you need the earthy tones, but in earth, under lamps.

We used to carry the Burrowing Owl. Some is amazing. But shipping kills us.

We carry French wines at over $ 700 per bottle, that is sold at our competitors for over $1400 per bottle. So, $ 40 per is entry level really.

But my area is the $15.00 to $25.00 wines, you have to have a great palette to appreciate a very expensive bottle. Or a bunch of money to waste.

I say, If you like it drink it, weather it comes in a box, or you are sampling a 1995 Margaux @ $700 per.

Not sure if you're aware but Osoyoos is a desert. The black bench gets the sunlight, and is usually 35C through the summer. I guess that's why it's the only one that has the big reds.

My uncle used to have the money and palate to buy that type of wine. He'd always bring some at Christmas and it was a treat. He gave a couple of cases for a charity to auction off and it sold for 10K.

He had no idea it was worth that much.

There's the Route des vins in Dunham (where L'Orpailleur is). You can visit 17 vineyards/cideries/breweries by bike. I want to try that next summer. I'll make sure to wear a helmet.

I think it's that one. I'm not sure, but I think I remember how much it cost and it's the only one with that price.

Have you ever seen the marathon from vineyard to vineyard they do in France?
it's in the middle of the summer and they drink wine at each stop. by the half way point the joggers are running one way and ambulances zoom past them in the other direction with dehydrated, drunk and sunstroke participants.
