He won't be trading one of the core youngsters.

Firing the coach and trading PRV was bold enough especially compared to the last guy.

- robin_steele264

Having a pulse makes him bolder than the last guy.

I liked the Perron deal but I didn't think it was that bold, I mean PRV seemed to be the logical odd man out at some point.

Well yeah, it's just that people commonly blame Pocklington solely for the deal and fail to acknowledge the basic economics behind it.

You have 4 yet your d is consistently your problem I'm just not seeing it.
- Yeti1181

Well, each one of our dmen that have top pairing potential - Schultz, Klefbom, Nurse, Marincin and even Petry - are all younger than Franson so if you haven't seen it from him I don't think you can reasonably expect to see it from them yet.

Ya can't get $2K for a Gretzky rookie unless it is mint and the likelihood of your buddy having 6 was nearly impossible. Got your point, just saying
- dawgzhouse

Its not nearly impossible. I know someone that has 30 in mint condition.

Though I thought the main reason Franson's on the block is not due to his play but Nonis' inept cap management. I think he's an asset well worth looking at if you need a d-man.

Personally I think they should just buy out Liles this weekend, to me it's the far better option.

If Marincin or Petry are ending up the top pair d men on the Oilers I think it should be a sign they need help there. The other three I buy that, not right now but down the road possibly.

we need a great dman, and for the next two or so years, a good dman.

Could Franson be that great dman? maybe, but we can't afford to pay him like one and I wouldn't try to acquire him unless he was a reasonably safe bet to be here in the future.

I didn't mean 'ending up', I meant top pairing potential/possibility.

But yeah, if we ever reach a point where we look at Marincin and Petry and they're our underserving top pair, obviously you make a move.

Although for what it's worth I'd say Petry has been a perfectly reliable defender for us in the past 2 years.

Dion?

I wouldn't do that trade for Dion's wife. Don't get me wrong... I'd be ind of tempted. She's purdy.

Seguin didn't even fetch that, no way yak gets it unless your talking straight up.
- Yeti1181

Yaks is not a #2 party boy 3rd line centre that got traded in his 3rd campaign. If seguin is so good why does he play for Dallas?

Kane was a party boy and Seguin was on the 3rd because of their top two centers. Boston will regret giving him up

Dude was simply a head-case. He was arguably the best player his age in the game though.

We probably don't get Robitaille if we asked for him instead, but maybe we would have been able to snag another one of their top prospects at the time, a guy named Rob Blake...

- Morris

He simply had no heart.

There was a rumour that Messier told Carson if he didn't back check he would do unspeakable physical things to Carson. Carson then demanded a trade.

The Oil sent Carson home to Detroit for Adam Graves, Joe Murphy and Petr Klima. It was an awesome trade for Edmonton.

As a side note the last I checked Carson still held the record for most goals by a teenager.

First off you re a Richard for telling anyone to go die. Second neither one of those are spare parts now if you could grow up a bit and have an actual conversation that be great.

There would be no reason to trade Hall he is the perfect age group for you guys the only reason I think the did the Seguin trade was they are moe win now then later

First off, it's a joke. Read it 100 times on this thread. 2nd off, compared to yak, it is. Fine would you do smed and a first for kadri and a 2nd?

Got to think of the future tho man. There not gonna be that good for that long. History proves this. Honestly does anyone one they traded for help them for the next ten years? They got a good winger, but did they get a franchise centre?

Two years ago a Gretzky O Pee Chee Rookie card graded Gem condition sold for over 94k at auction. In 2009 one of those same rookie cards sold for 80k at auction.

If you can get a mint card for 2k you best buy it and place it in a sports memorabilia auction.

As for amount of cards it wasn't hard at all to accumulate Gretzky rookie cards at the time. You just had to buy packs and have some luck. It was also easy to trade for them back then. No one had any idea how great he would become.

If we traded Yak to toronto I would want JVR, Franson, and Reilly. Steep price to pay but Yak is going to be a superstar and is going nowhere without a huge overpayment package coming back.

Smid isn't as young or offensively skilled as Fanson bout the same defensively. So it doesn't fit with our age group nor help us. Franson would help bolster your blue line and the first would be to hel balance as well I was asking as a suggestion normally you would respond in a constructive way and counter not be a complete Richard. If. You can not have a conversation why do you bother coming here. I come on clouts board all the time not trolling but having a conversation. So if you can't have a conversation don't bother replying to my post.
