Dude was simply a head-case. He was arguably the best player his age in the game though.

We probably don't get Robitaille if we asked for him instead, but maybe we would have been able to snag another one of their top prospects at the time, a guy named Rob Blake...

- Morris

Yeah he got traded quite a bit there... I was wondering what was up with that.

Could you imagine in today's NHL what would happen if Ovi or Crosby was traded only to see the main piece(carson) dealt a year later?

There would be deaths.

- Lahey

Yeah, arguably they had the pieces put into their hands to re-tool properly but shanked it. Not too much pain in getting Graves, Klima and Murphy back for Carson, but imagine if we grab the newly drafted later-round picks Lidstrom or Federov instead...

i actually thought that gretzky was the one who had input on that last detail, unless i read the article in THN wrong...
- hiway39

well then that's more hockey insight displayed than in his entire tenure in Phoenix that's interesting

You don't know why people celebrate anniversaries for events or why this is important. Yet you remember exactly where you were what you said and what you did. Sounds like you do care. Maybe just still bitter

Ya can't get $2K for a Gretzky rookie unless it is mint and the likelihood of your buddy having 6 was nearly impossible. Got your point, just saying

The Oilers traded Wayne Gretzky, or something, 25 years ago. Why people get excited about 25th anniversaries more than, let's say, the 24th or 26th anniversary is something I'll never understand. Actually, the whole concept of recognizing any anniversary of any sort has never made sense to me, because the past is in the past. Wherever you go, that's where you are. But I digest.

Tell that to your wife on your 25 anniversary. See how that gos.

I know it was a different era, and he was nothing compared to Gretzky, but I'm surprised at how good Jimmy Carson's numbers were... http://www.hockeydb.com/i...tats/pdisplay.php?pid=845
- laughs2907

Demetrios Kyriazopoulos! Still owns the NHL record for most goals before the age of 20. Carson was a really good offensive player, and should've had a long career with over 1400 points and 500 plus goals. His heart just was never into playing hockey.

Thanks

“In a weird way, I knew Jimmy’s heart was not as much into it,” says McNall of his friend, who neither smoked, drank nor partied with teammates. “He was an intellectual, multidimensional guy, read the Wall Street Journal, and so many other players just don’t have his opportunities and interests. So I always thought, deep down, that maybe long-term hockey wouldn’t be for him.”

Interesting...

Yeah

She was on the decline for a while... Sight going, legs becoming really weak, and losing weight. She started whimpering in pain this week, so they took her to the vet and he said it would be best to put her down. At least she's out of her misery now.

Ya I've had to put 2 dogs down, it sucks. Another reason I like snakes better, less emotional attachment.

That's interesting... I suppose it's kind of silly to call someone as smart as Carson a 'headcase' as I did...I wonder if anyone was going to be able to bear the responsibility of 'replacing Gretzky'

Well trading Grezt, then Mess was hard to deal with. But can you imagine if the League would have allowed Pocklington to trade the ENTIRE team to Toronto for their entire team plus a boatload of cash? That would have sucked big time. It almost happened apparently.

It's worse for my two nieces though... She was around when both of them were born.

Naw. I heard about that tho. Tradgic I hope the owner faces some serious charges.

I had a Burmese python for years. Thing was huge. I had 2 kids, 2 dogs and a cat at the time and never had a issue. Mine was well fed and handled all the time unlike that one. That makes a huge difference.
