Is being "Concussion Smart" the opposite of being "Batpoop Crazy"?

Sid does look pretty bright in that photo...

I believe Brendan Gaunce is also still jr eligible, 46.

unless he plays for the canucks. i know they cant play pro for the ahl for a few years.

either way, thats too many contracts, if they get some injuries and need to sign someone it could cause problems later.

Meh, how often does an NHL team sign a player mid season? All the guys that have been signed are expected to be able to contribute at the NHL level, at least in a spot duty capacity. I would expect Gillis to have a few veteran guys around on PTO's and if one of them makes the team, it's likely that one of the junior eligible players is going back to their amateur club, so no worries there.

I wouldn't worry.

Most teams hover just below or at the limit.

That list of 46 covers the entire NHL roster, minus Tanev, as well as a good portion of the AHL roster—including all players who might be called up in case of injury.

They likely won't be signing more than one more depth player.

And any trades would likely see a contract going the other way.

It's pretty standard.

Any idea how many AHL only contracts they have? I've seen on the Comets site one player (in their "news" section - Pecan) but the roster is not published - I guess because no one knows who makes the Canucks yet...

Also, it says the Comets Presedent is Robert Esche, the ex Flyers goalie? I saw him play in Saint Petersburg a few years ago when he was playing in the KHL.

The AHL signings I can think of are Guimond, Negrin, Pacan, and Corbeil. I'm probably missing a few.

Obviously those go along with the clear AHL fodder who the Canucks signed—Blain, Biega, Mullen, Pelletier, DeFazio, Stuart, and Hamil are probably not expected to play any NHL games.

Then there's the Canuck prospects on two-way contracts who don't make the big club, and guys like Santorelli, Ferreiro, Weise, Sestito, and Schroeder, a few of who will likely play on the Comets.

Matt Beattie, who is still Canucks property, had an ECHL contract with K-Zoo, but I'm not sure what his status is this season.

I think it's time for Ian to write a blog with Luongo in the title, that will create a 500+ comment thread and attract all the parasites like flies to sh!t.

I actually kinda like it when it's quiet in here with somewhat intelligent hockey talk.

Ian doesn't need to be throwing red meat around during Shark week. I think this is where Ian misses out being in Cal. with players in town working out, he can't scout anyone personally.

I thought it was common knowledge that Frank Corrado had made the team. Why is always listed as a prospect from sources outside f Vancouver.

Lots of sites/organizations still consider them prospects until they've played a certain amount of NHL games. Really depends on where you look.

A couple of sites still have players with a full season + NHL games listed as prospects, and NHL.com is usually one of the slowest to update.

There's a few players on that list that make me question whether the writer is even qualified to rank Canucks prospects.

Although I think Corrado's got as good a chance as Weber to earn that final spot on D, I don't think he's quite a lock yet. My guess is it's his to lose in camp, though. So I'd say the prospect denomination is still fair...but hopefully he'll solidify himself as an NHLer this season.

Yeah, I'm a night owl.

Wife just fell asleep, so I get to drink, play NHL13 with my 13/14 (predicted) Canucks lineup, and surf the net guilt free...

What's going on with you?

Nope. Cut the cable after the first round of the playoffs. Starting it up again in October.

What channel is it on?
