Why in the hell would the Oilers want a rental? No matter how good you think he is.
- Marshalle

cause he has made it clear he would like to play out west, and really, who would not want to play in Edmonton with all these young stars?..he would sign there I'm sure

again its not all about numbers...I never said Miller is the answer either but the Oilers will not win with Dubnyk. He always lets if a soft one at the worst possible time when the pressure is on. He plays decent in 4-2 losses when the team is badly outplayed but in a one goal game he often blows it.

My opinion

This isn't an Oilers want Miller debate. This is whose the better goalie debate. This whole blog is total crap anyway. The trade makes zero sense for the Sabres and not much for the Oilers

We'll agree to disagree on the attitude thing...

I agree with the rest. Obviously Dubnyk would be a question mark when the pressure is on (playoffs)... We'll see how he holds up if the Oilers get there.

yes, he'll let in a soft one after saving a miraculous one. Yes it is all about numbers. And if you don't want it to be about numbers, I'll trust the guy who watches every oiler game every year. Not a flames fan or buffalo fan
- TheNugeIsHuge

Dubnyk is apparently the only goalie in the league who lets in a soft one from time to time.

I have heard it from several people with the Sabres (I have some connections to players and employees) the real cancer in the lockerroom is someone else mentioned a few times in this blog and if he was gone Briere would be back here this season
- Stripes77

IM me and I will IM you back the real reason Patrick Roy left the Habs, I live in Montreal and one of my friends played for the Habs for years and gave me all the inside scoop..fair trade?

Hemsky for Liles+a prospect would make more sense, with Edmonton retaining the salary difference for this year.

No its not irrelevent, salary is very important, length of contract is very important, fit in the dressing room is important. Not just whether or not it will fit cap wise.
- Marshalle

The other points you make are relevant,
Arguable... But points worth discussion

Salary & Cap# just isn't
Not when u have room, and for teams that don't...
And the Sabres have REPEATEDLY shown they'll take back salary (kalinen, pardy) or pay part of an out going contract (Pominville) to make the deal work

I think he let in weak goals in about 6 games this year. Mostly off of unlucky deflections i.e. PHX, DAL.

I think someone posted once that he lets in weak goals and it spread like wildfire and everyone thinks he's sh*t.

I guess. Then EDM has Smid, N Schultz, Ference, Grebeshkov, Belov, Klefbom, AND Liles on the left side.

EDM doesn't need another 5/6/7D

Its not all about the numbers. If it was all about the numbers then watching a game wouldn't matter, you could make all personnel decisions from the box score.

what's EDM cap space at right now? 1.35M. How is that tons?

If EDM dealt Hemsky for Miller straight up, they'd be 100K under

- TheNugeIsHuge

I guess I missed where they spent their $$$
But the 2nd part of that stated how the Sabres have shown they will make a deal work for whoever when it comes to the cap

U wanna say Miller isn't worth what we are prob asking,
That's a decent point

The cap# point just isn't though,
And u bring it up ALL THE TIME

Numbers fluctuate throughout the year... It's the numbers at the end of each season that tell the story of how player x's year went. So yes, numbers matter.

Like to hear opinion of non-Oiler non-Sabre fans.

As a Sabre fan this deal is not close. Sabres are awful. Miller is one of the best, unfortunately he nor anyone else can carry a team like Hasek.
A first at least HAS to come back.

I enjoy watching Western Conference hockey. I would like to see that Oilers team or the Blues or Sharks w Miller.

EDM'd have to send a WOW deal from BUF to retain any salary. As of right now, I don't see the difference between Miller and Dubey being big enough that EDM should send a large package for a year of Miller.

I agree about rebuilding, but you wouldnt get young players/prospects AND draft picks for miller, you'd get one or the other...a young player/prospect or a good 1st
- annoyance_101

We'll see
I kept hearing that about Pominville too
How he'd get less if a return than "Hall of fame warrior" iginla...
How'd that turn out again?
TWO good (not great) prospects, a 1st and a 2nd

I'm not gonna waste time arguing about what Miller will or won't get
None of us know
