And Miller won 5 games while being pelted with 40+. Most in the NHL while playing on a non playoff team.
- sbroads24

He's going to be a UFA and is a bit of a head case. To be fair, most goalies are though.

Hemsky has seasons of 77, 71, 66 points and three seasons of similar PPG. You'd be hard pressed to argue he's not cut out for the NHL.
- Morris

If he's so great then why doesn't anyone want him?
The Oilers don't even want him.

The last two seasons he's been a .5 point per game player...not good enough for top 6 and if he can't play top 6 then he can't play in NHL.

He reminds me of Filatov.

Plain & simple, Buffalo would seriously be getting ripped off Regher is not a stupid gm. Of the Oil would do in an Alberta second but no way, no how Buffalo does this one for one deal.

except Filatov proved nothing, was a headcase and didn't have injuries as an excuse. I see them as completely different scenarios.

I'm not saying he's amazing, I'm saying it's pretty silly to say a 10 year veteran of the NHL isn't cut out for the league.

Olympics are up for grabs this year for the US and their goalies.
IMO Miller, Quick, Anderson go. Schneider is left out

- sbroads24

Howard is better than Anderson. It'll probably be either quick and miller or quick and Howard but we both agree quick is number 1

Its insane. The guy had literally played a career length of seasons in the NHL. but apparently he's only as cut out for the NHL as a guy who never stuck it out

Miller would be a pretty expensive backup but at least both teams would finally be able to move these players.

Miller is not a player that the Sabres organization and Buffalo fans want to be rid of. Its only that Miller expressed disinterest in a rebuild and misses his underachieving pals in Gaustad and Pomminville and such. Not that they were bad players but as a group underachieved and were not going to win a series together ever again.

Miller for picks and prospects is the only real solution. Don't make an apples for apples trade or any attempt at an apples for apples trade because it will blow up in Buffalos face.

Exactly, a SMART trade for Buffalo if the Oil were willing would be say, Miller to Edmonton for 1st & 2nd round pick in 2014. Or Miller for Gagner & a 2nd. Sabres need to re-build with picks & young solid players like Gagner.

Sabres don't need band aid solutions. They got solid trading pieces in Miller & Vanek. Use their value & re-build.

first unless Quick is hurt Miller has ZERO chance as starter for the US

second why is Miller being valued so high? what exactly has he won or accomplished?

If he was so good teams would be falling over themselves trying to get him. They aren't.

Buffalo has made it known they want to move him. Miller isn't happy there knowing this.He has put his place up for sale. Teams know these two things. Why over pay for a 34 year old goaltender who isn't happy and a team looking to move him?

I agree completely...They are just overvaluing the value that those players may bring

agreed. Now it would be even smarter if they ignored Edmonton as a possible destination since they can't afford to be giving away 2Cs or picks for rentals. Both teams are still laying the groundwork.

You put any of the leagues top goalies playing behind the defense we've had in Buffalo over the last 20 years, and nobody wins anything.

Hasek has been the only goalie in the NHL to truly carry a poor team on his back and come a couple games from the Cup.

Miller would have done just as well if not better than the goalies who have played behind Boston's, or LA's or Chicago's teams....

you're telling me Miller would have done better against the Hawks this year than Quick did? what are you smoking?

in front of Boston's defense I may agree with you. Rask is not that good and had 5 guys willing to block and collapse around him.

hey I know that feel. Which is why I think it's funny that people think Miller would be the difference between the Oilers making it and missing it.
