Value has nothing to do with it. You don't trade one soon to be UFA for another when you are trying to rebuild. This deal makes absolutely no sense. None. Hell it doesn't even save you money.
- BigStew

It actually does make sense. We are rebuilding. Having Miller on this roster period hurts the rebuild. Trust me we will be awful without him. Trading him period is a forward move.

You would be crazy to want Dubnyk over him. Sorry. Not saying Miller is worth a ton, but he's a proven workhorse who has hardware and playoff experience. Dubnyk has proven nothing compared to him

And taking back Hemsky makes sense, why not just trade him for a puck bag and save some money. I'd give him his outright release before trading him for Hemsky.

Skill wise...maybe...but the difference in salary is something that a rebuilding team will want...they need someone younger and less salary...name the last team that has won with an "elite" goaltender Thomas and Fleury aren't elite, guys like Lundqvist and Miller have not proven to be winners in the playoffs, Luongo has not proven to be a stanley cup champ...Quick is the only one that I can think of that has won and has a higher salary...

Hemsky straight up for Miller does make no sense...Hemsky needs to go to a contender if anything

Not getting Yakupov that easily, at least from Oiler fans on this board who think Yak is worth a Kings ransom.
- benny948

Exactly. In reality, Yak is worth very little. Miller for Yakupov and Hall?

It does. We can move Hemsky at the deadline as a rental. If taking back Hemsky allows EDM to get Miller than you have to. Obviously we would get more than Hemsky too. Probably a 2nd and a prospect

I'm not a fan of Yak, I would probably trade him for Myers...Myers size and skill level would intrigue me as an Oilers fan...I preached that they should have taken a d-man instead of Yak...it would have been more worth while...

Most people don't realize how much talent Hemsky has. If he got traded, and stayed healthy, he'll get you 70 points then all the haters can go wait in line together when they get a Hemsky jersey. Obviously he has injury history, but he is still an elite talent, that when teamed up with the proper players/team, will light it up

If miller had more than 1 year left before UFA then i would say 1st, but hes gonna test UFA if he sticks it out with buf, so would you rather have hemsky and a 3rd... or nothing at all? because if they dont take a deal somewhere they get NADA
