They do in that context...
- annoyance_101

Are you referring to the fact that they both stink?

IMO Vanek is the guy. Just judging by his attitude during interviews and practice

nope, much more than that..this is Ryan Miller we are talking about..I would rather just take a 1st rounder and a monster prospect at the deadline then, Hemsky is a cap hit we could do without..actually he's a player we could do without
- French-Connection

Your not getting a "monster prospect" and a first Rounder. Unless by monster you mean big and not that good, maybe you get that. Miller is worth a first, a roster player and maybe a decent prospect.

You are not getting an elite prospect along with a first. Ill be shocke if you do so.

The other points you make are relevant,
Arguable... But points worth discussion

Salary & Cap# just isn't
Not when u have room, and for teams that don't...
And the Sabres have REPEATEDLY shown they'll take back salary (kalinen, pardy) or pay part of an out going contract (Pominville) to make the deal work

And MacT hasn't been afraid to move a player or 2 this off season?
- annoyance_101

Liles is far from a fit in EDM.

I'd rather EDM try to deal Hemsky for Steve Bernier or Eric Fehr

Guy always complains and sighs after his team slips up, not a winning attitude.

I would take that and run, he is probably worth one of those to a team that needs him.

Numbers fluctuate throughout the year... It's the numbers at the end of each season that tell the story of how player x's year went. So yes, numbers matter.

We'll see
I kept hearing that about Pominville too
How he'd get less if a return than "Hall of fame warrior" iginla...
How'd that turn out again?
TWO good (not great) prospects, a 1st and a 2nd

I'm not gonna waste time arguing about what Miller will or won't get
None of us know

- jdfitz77

Minnesota will regret that move for a very VERY long time...it was worse than the Kessel trade...which boggles my mind...those trades don't happen with every team

EDM'd have to send a WOW deal from BUF to retain any salary. As of right now, I don't see the difference between Miller and Dubey being big enough that EDM should send a large package for a year of Miller.
- TheNugeIsHuge

We took back Kotalk's salary from Calgary as part of the Regehr trade

Also, Roy for Ott, plus they made us take Pardy & his salary

None of those were "wow" deals

Like I said,
Arguing there isn't much difference between Miller & Dubnyk is very debatable
Just stop bring up the $$$ part,
Bc the Sabres keep showing that'll do what it takes when it comes to the $$$ to make the deal work

To put it into even worse terms Larsson, Hackett, Zadorav, and a 2nd for Pommer and a 4th. WOW

After the Hodgson incident being moved to the 4th he apparently gave a good earful to Rolston all hearsay but it's worth noting. I guess he didnt like playing with Hecht as his center

I'm not saying we'll also get that type deal for Miller
But it goes to show how useful it is to speculate on these things
I would've thought Calgary would get more for Iginla too

Trying to say what a guy will or won't get is just dumb IMO

Man are Sabres fans overvaluing Miller. First off, Regier totally dropped the ball by not moving Miller already. Now there are almost no open spots for starters in this league. Edmonton, St. Louis, and MAYBE Colorado are really the only destinations where Miller might fit. And all those destinations have atleast two NHL goaltenders already. So that decreases Regier's leverage a whole lot. And if it's Edm, someone like Hemsky HAS to be involved bc the Oilers don't have much cap room to acquire Miller's bulbous hit. If they throw in a 1st and a solid prospect (Lander?) then that'd be more than fair compensation in my mind. Remember this isn't Vezina Miller, it's aging, unproductive (last season), overpriced, soon-to-be free agent Miller. There's no way Buffalo gets the return most fans want. The front office waited too long, probably bc the asking price was way too high.

Also, I don't think they can holdout til the trade deadline like most Buffalo fans think. Most contending teams, who would have interest, are already against the cap. They cannot afford Miller. And they're not gonna give an arm and a leg for a potential rental. Miller is not an elite netminder anymore. He's not gonna bring a franchise changing return. And unless they wanna lose him for nothing at the end of the year they're gonna have to take a deal like this.

Jeez, just trade the guy already. It is not his job to complain about who is his center, he can provide input, but can't be a jack@#$. I am really excited about the group of prospects that the Sabres have assembled, 2014 should give us even more. The future is bright without him.

I was trying to get a reaction from you, its been years

all kidding aside, I do not want to see Hemsky in a Sabres jersey for Ryan Miller..unless..we get another ready NHL player and a 1st rounder, lets be honest, the Oilers need a guy like Miller to stabilize their nets badly, so Hemsky and a swap etc is not enough..one thing I do agree with is your pick of Edmonton being the place, to me its the perfect fit for Miller, so if they throw in a 1st rounder into this?..possible then, but we are not gonna get ourselves totally ripped off either

- French-Connection

Oilers don't need a goalie badly dubnyk proved he's a starter last year. Is he the one to win the cup maybe not but the oilers arnt that bad in net and are not gonna create another hole in their roster for a goalie with a bad attitude. And for ppl who say dubey sucks last year he had a .920 save pct and like a 2.7 goals against avg. For a goalie on the worst defensive team in the league that's pretty darn good.

That's why he has dropped the I don't want to be apart of a long rebuild. He wasn't happy about Pommer being moved either
