man, I could not believe we got all that
and Nashville giving us a 1st for Gaustad?? - French-Connection
Sometimes, overvaluing players works. I read somewhere (I don't remember specifically) that Minny and Mtl were in a bidding war for Vanek. It was supposed to be Larsson or a 1st for Vanek, not Larsson and a first. |

I'm not saying we'll also get that type deal for Miller
But it goes to show how useful it is to speculate on these things
I would've thought Calgary would get more for Iginla too
Trying to say what a guy will or won't get is just dumb IMO - jdfitz77
Iginla's age and declining play wasn't all that attractive...the fact that he had a short list also was a problem...honestly though...Pominville trade boggles my mind
So basically if you think somethings dumb...don't do it? I'm not stopping you from not doing it.......I think its dumb to say its dumb not to do something...You won't stop me or anyone else about speculation...
If Miller creates a short list, his value will go down also...the sabres have already made his value go down by making it clear that he wants to be moved...leaking that he sold or put his house up greatly devalues him... |

That's why he has dropped the I don't want to be apart of a long rebuild. He wasn't happy about Pommer being moved either - Stripes77
I hope that Darcy is trading him before camp, we don't need his complaining throughout the upcoming season of losing. It may stunt the kid's development. I knew about his opinion on the Pommer trade, which shows that he is 100 percent on the way out. |

Man are Sabres fans overvaluing Miller. First off, Regier totally dropped the ball by not moving Miller already. Now there are almost no open spots for starters in this league. Edmonton, St. Louis, and MAYBE Colorado are really the only destinations where Miller might fit. And all those destinations have atleast two NHL goaltenders already. So that decreases Regier's leverage a whole lot. And if it's Edm, someone like Hemsky HAS to be involved bc the Oilers don't have much cap room to acquire Miller's bulbous hit. If they throw in a 1st and a solid prospect (Lander?) then that'd be more than fair compensation in my mind. Remember this isn't Vezina Miller, it's aging, unproductive (last season), overpriced, soon-to-be free agent Miller. There's no way Buffalo gets the return most fans want. The front office waited too long, probably bc the asking price was way too high.
Also, I don't think they can holdout til the trade deadline like most Buffalo fans think. Most contending teams, who would have interest, are already against the cap. They cannot afford Miller. And they're not gonna give an arm and a leg for a potential rental. Miller is not an elite netminder anymore. He's not gonna bring a franchise changing return. And unless they wanna lose him for nothing at the end of the year they're gonna have to take a deal like this. - phillyphanatic
Quit talking sense! Miller will continue to get better every year, and will dominate. Yakupov + Hall + RNH for Miller. The Oilers may have to add a little more too of course. |

Just bc the Flyers front office historically doesn't seem to value netminders doesn't mean I'm totally oblivious to the value of them. I've watched Miller a lot throughout his career, and he's not the Vezina type anymore. He's a good, solid starter but not elite. And I just laid out the facts of the situation... there aren't a lot of options (destination-wise), his cap is excessive and could prevent a contending team from acquiring him (even if Buffalo retains some), and he's most likely a rental player. Not to mention his performance was very average last season, albeit behind a bad team. But the bottom line here is that the Sabres fans are ultimately going to be disappointed with the return if they're expecting a solid NHLer, a blue chipper, a 1st and more. He's just not worth it. |

Miller for Hemsky would not be that bad of a trade. Depending on the prospects/picks that would be included. There is no way Edm is going to resign Hemsky and getting Miller for a year will allow them time to se if they want to sign him long term. Sabres getting Hemsky is not very good for a team rebuilding, however if he has a good year, Hemsky would likely get more than Miller would at the trade deadline. Reason being is that starting goalies don't get traded at the deadline to teams in the hunt. Maybe a trade like Miller and a 2nd for Hemsky and a 1st? Edm is close to the cap, so they can't really take on money and they only have 2 d-men 6 forwards and no goalies signed past this year. A trade with Miller, Ennis (from Edmonton), Pysyk (from Alberta) and a 2nd for Hemsky and Yak would be nice for both teams. Only reason I mention Yak is because Edm was appearently shopping him earlier this year. |

Personally, I'd rather let Miller walk for nothing than bring on Hemsky and his salary.
A more fair deal is Stafford for Hemsky...change of scenery for both but think we on short end of that stick too |

so basically miller has been asked to give them a bigger list
while hemsky is still being shopped with not a lot of interest
other than that, there is zero connection between the two.
and no, since both are guys that are being shopped, technically it's not 100% impossible.
great rumour just throw some sh1t against the wall that cant be unequivocally disproven
just the worst 'insider' ever. no idea whatsoever |

except that Stafford has the extra year on his contract. which in his case ISNT a plus.
like you, id rather hemsky walk and get the salary at the end of the year |

Miller
For
Hemsky
Dubnyk
N. Shultz
1st RD pick
Buffalo gets the first for taking on salary.
Rolls the dice with Hemsky. This is the wild card so to speak.
Gets a young goalie to replace Miller.
Just has to bite the bullet on salary for a year. Sabres are going to suck this year anyway.
Edmonton gets a solid veteran goalie. If Edmonton wins a playoff spot Miller will resign.
Frees up over 5 million in cap space...when you factor in the bonuses they're currently over the cap and that would eat into next year. |
