Please explain how the Blackhawks logo respresents oppression? - dawgzhouse
The Trail of Tears is a name given to the forced relocation and movement of Native American nations from southeastern parts of the United States following the Indian Removal Act of 1830. The removal included many members of the Cherokee, Muscogee (Creek), Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw nations, among others in the United States, from their homelands to Indian Territory in eastern sections of the present-day state of Oklahoma. The phrase originated from a description of the removal of the Choctaw Nation in 1831.[1]
Many Native Americans suffered from exposure, disease and starvation on the route to their destinations. Many died, including 60,000 of the 130,000 relocated Cherokee, intermarried and accompanying European-Americans, and the 2,000 African-American free blacks and slaves owned by the Cherokee they took with them.[2][3] European Americans and African American freedmen and slaves also participated in the Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee Creek and Seminole forced relocations.[4] |

John Jaeckel: 35 Reasons It's Great To Be A Blackhawk Fan - John Jaeckel
2010 and 2013, obviously. Also a young core that for the most part is just entering its prime.
And I don't underestimate the value of #9 and #16. This wouldn't be nearly as fun if they played the Nashville / old Minnesota Wild under Jacques Lemaire game. What a boring brand of hockey that is to have to watch. |

Tell it to former leaf captain, George "Chief" Armstrong, who your team made a point to nickname and promote.
big difference between a real Indian tribe, Indian, and colorful (respectful) emblem and the racist buck toothed Indian iof the Washingtom football team, and it's name, right?

That's the whole point. To take political correctness to the point that you can't salute and celebrate a legendary native chief is really almost defeating the purpose. But some people will take shots based on those kinds of reasons because they can't otherwise.

JJ,
Quick question. I know you loved Brouwer, but do you like the trade for Danault today? Brouwer has played well for the Caos but I'm hoping that trade turns out a win win with us getting the younger player for years to come. - PitMartin7
They could have grabbed Danault at 18 and kept Brouwer. So then it's whether Brouwer was better than McNeill will be.Hard to say. Truth is, there is an outside shot the Hawks hit a rare trifects on their first three picks in 2011 (McNeill, Danault and Saad).
Time will tell. Good question though.

The king about the Brouwer trade is you can no longer separate the players from the cap situations each team has.
Granted in the original six days we would see these huge 5 - 6 player deals usually with a disgruntled high end veteran who wanted more money than the hold the line parent club was willing to pay or even negotiate with.
You can't take Brouwer, the soon UFA player who was looking for a payoff before consistently delivering and the teams tight CAP space in the same light as Danault for Brouwer.
I am sure if there was no cap the Hawks would have been very willing and Tallon generous to Brouwer, Ladd, and even Buff....
but it couldn't happen.
I was pretty surprised that they took Danault because Boone Jenner and Saad were there and Danault was slight, a "Quebec-leaguer" and really not a guy that appeared to have a huge offensive upside (like the hardrock Jenner).
I have a strong Quebec league biased based on the decades where that league was a scoring paradise that forwards saw huge goal numbers but few made thenHL impact as all around guys, or even scorers.
Things have changed dramatically for the better with defensive systems coming into vogue...
And teams NOW no longer look for diamond in the rough scorers who MAY pan out in the late middle of the draft....they select "players" whose all around game/abilities project as NHL contributers.
Danault at very least IS gonna play in the NHL.
...and he is NEVER going to hurt his team while on the ice.
He is going to be able to slide from position and line and play with gusto and versaitility.
He is NEVER going to be that hard rock strongman Brouwer was (is), but they also will not be paying for potential, at 3,666,667 as the Capitals agreed to do two years ago, and continue to do until 2016...now a reasonable number for sure.
In Washington, Brouwer has yet to get in as many points as he had in the Indianhead, in the regular seaosn and playoff.
And I guess I am not sure what GM George McPhee expected with Brouwer, if it was a roster fill move ("we need one more decent forward") or a "this guy's has an upside" move.
So to me the move positiosn us with a NHL player within two years whose Cap numbers will be managable for a long time, and IF Danault continues his rise, we may end up with a guy that matches or exceeds the present Brouwer numbers, but that iS a chance these deals are...
Oh, and JJ I thi k mcNeill is really gonna surprise you with his punch, passing, and hands... |

So celebrating a Chief that fought white oppression is 'oppression'?
When a name is used it is not enough to assume because of its affiliation that it represents all that is negative. One must think and consider the context.

Another category though the Buffalo Sabres original jersey is sick!
Buffalo for the city and two crossing Sabres. Very cool to go with Blue and Gold...
How could you be neutral and like Blues over Sabres when have same colors?
Funny though w kid colors, still kind of always like Seattle Seahawks bc of that. |

Even getting there that early it seems we are rushing to make it to the seats before the anthem
