That comment is based on watching the flyers every single game seeing as I live in Philly and can do so. Carter misses the net with a vengeance

No moreso then anyother top shot producer in the League.

I'm sure he misses the net just as much as Carter does.

I think this argument that Carter doesn't have a high enough shooting % is so stupid. The coaches encouraged him to shoot MORE because goalies have a hard time handling his shot. Even when they make the save, they usually don't control it.

That's true. Dude had a rifle.

49.1 % as a flyer all time winning percentage isnt what I would call a winning battle at the faceoff circle.
- GOA88

Not many players come into the League and are proficient in every area. In his last two Seasons here Carter was at 52 and 54% on faceoffs.

Players get better over time. Even Crosby and Giroux struggled in their first couple seasons with face-offs. If you look at the last couple years in Philly, he was very good. Gettng better at face-offs is actually a sign of hard work.

I never said that Carter didnt have a nice shot, one of the best wrist shots in the game.... but when the game is on his stick...... It sure didnt matter did it?

A position change takes time for a player to adjust. Carter doesn't seem to have an issue playing Wing in LA. It was also said that Carter and Richards couldn't paly together either. That has also proven to be false.
- MJL

They actually played together in Philly (see: http://www.broadstreethoc...e-2010-flyers-jeff-carter).

And he doesn't seem to have an issue playing wing in LA because someone he respects finally pulled him aside and dropped science on him or he realized that he would probably play on a higher line in LA if he moved to wing.

I mean, he wasn't going to get either of Kopitar or Richards' spot.

That's an obvious reaction to a clear cut situation on the ice. When a player comes off the ice to the bench shaking his head. That could be for any number of things.
- MJL

Not necessarily. Could be his teammate's milestone point (100, 400, etc.). Could be he really disliked the goalie in juniors. Could be he used to play for the other team and is glad to show them up.

Imagine how mad we'd be about Jeff Carter if the Flyers hadn't got an extremely good return for him.

Nah, missed shots are kept on NHL.com and is an official NHL stat.
- MJL

MJL, can you show me where this is? I can't find it.

Edit: Nevermind.

The other playoff year he played with a seperated shoulder.
- MJL

did he manage to elevate his game somehow or no?

some players can and some can't, he doesn't and that's why a lot of fans are meh on him

listing his injuries isn't going to change that and suddenly make him an old fan favorite

So you judge based solely on points scored I see. Shows what you know about hockey.

Yeah, I'm your typical Flyers fan dolt...

C'mon man, you can't tell me you think Giroux was one of the top three players in the NHL last season. If you think he was please explain that to me.

... and I love the guy.

I do wish he had stayed in Columbus, but not if that would have meant NJ winning the Cup in 2012.

If you want to discuss that again, we can. It's silly, but whatever! I'm glad you can know what a player is reacting to, and why.
- MJL

i'm also glad you know positively for a fact that carter's post-season performances were based on injury and nothing else.

You're really jumping all over. I believe that Carter had a hard time elevating his game during the playoffs while a member of the Flyers.

The playoffs are more of a board battle game and that's not Carter's forte.

However, his regular season play was fairly consistent as a WHOLE. (He would go through many scoring streaks).

He provided good two way play and would pot over 30 goals. When positioned as a second line center, he was a very good player. He wasn't ever the type to put the team on his back and carry them for long lengths of time.

To me, he was a lot like JVR but a much better two-way player.

I base that off of being a complete player, skill, leadership, etc. etc.

The team as a whole struggled last season. You seem to forget Giroux owning Crosby 2 springs ago. Also Giroux was voted by the players as the 3rd best player in the league behind Crosby and Datsyuk. So I think my assesment is pretty accurate.
