The media and fans were all tricked....Leiweke's admission about planning a parade route for the Stanley cup must have had to do with Bolland today. Crafty little $*%(.

I thought the same thing after watching that video. He was a keeper in my mind, but if Bernier works out and becomes our #1 for the next 10ish years, I wont miss Frattin - TonkaPhaneuf

Bernier will take the starting job and be your goalie for years to come IMO. I think he's ready |

No, my point is, Frattin is 26 years old. Crabb when he had put together a couple of average seasons was the same age. Now he tailed off because he just isn't that talented, nor consistent. Hence, why I compare the two, I believe the same will happen to Frattin. - ThePresident
certainly possible, though Frattin is a bit more naturally talented than Crabb. He's got a way better shot.
Crabb had the limited moderate success he had (almost becoming and NHL regular) mostly due to work ethic on a team sorely lacking it in.
Frattin just seems a bit more talented, but I don't in any way regret that trade or want a do-over.
I think it was a steal |

Just looking ahead. Dan Girardi will be a free agent after next season. Rangers have some decent players to get under contract. (Lundqvist, Callahan, Del zotto, Brassard) What a perfect fit that would be for the Leafs blue line! Right handed shot, averages 25 mins a night, shut down guy. Plus he's from Ontario Just dreaming here lol. |

Same here, and I've received crap for the idea of giving up Frattin for Bernier since 2 years ago. We have to stop overrating our mediocre players, and actually hang on to the ones that count. |

I was gonna throw a Rask bash at you after that trade remark, but now you had to go and be all nice and stuff about our 'potential' franchise goalie.... |

Oy vey...
Matt Frattin - Born Jan. 3rd 1988 - 25 years old
First two NHL seasons:
2011-12 (23years old) 56gp 9pts
2012-13(24years old) 48gp 15pts
Joey Crabb - Born Apr3rd 1983 - 30 years old
First two NHL seasons:
2008-09(25 years old) 29gp 9pts
2010-2011(27 years old) 48gp 15pts
Frattin would therefore be ahead of Crabb in terms of development at the NHL level. In five years Im sure Frattin will have more than double total points etc than will Crabb right now at the age of 30. |

Eriksson, Morrow, Fraser, Rielly, Hamilton, and Knight isn't terrible, but you won it.
Eriksson is really underrated and Hamilton and Morrow will be good NHL defensemen. Fraser seems to put up numbers in the A, but really doesn't mean much if he can't produce in the big league |

well, I'm not gonna go quite that far. Frattin WAS the player Lombardi has wanted for 2 years now also... keep that in mind.
But agreed, he has "top 6 potential" if he absolutely maxes out on his potential.
If Bernier Maxes out on his potential he's a Vezina candidate in a couple years.
Big IF for sure, but just a no brainer as far as the trade.

False. In 5 years, both him and Scrivens will no longer be playing in the NHL.

What is the general consensus amongst Leaf's fans regarding Franson? Trade, or keep?
Personally, I would have traded him already. I dont know that his value will ever be higher at his current age combined with the season he had last season.
He is A VERY good player, don't get me wrong. If he can mimic this previous seasons defensively and even put up reasonable offensive numbers, he's still a 3.5-4.5 million dollar d-man by today's standards.
But his stats this past season were a little ridiculous. I highly doubt he can sustain anything close to that over the long term. Again, I'm not saying he's bad. He's very good offensively and incredibly under-rated defensively.
But again, because he's still very young and has show continual improvement combined with his numbers this past season, I don't know that there will ever be a better time to move him and receive the best possible package in return.
Realistically, the blue-line long term includes, what? Gunner, Reilly, Gardiner, possibly Fraser and/or Phaneuf, and hopefully one of (if not both of) Blacker and Percy? Where does Franson fit in long term?
I would demand a 1st round pick and a player. - mochoson
We keep Franson and trade Kulemin.
