In part, but also because the canucks are getting older and worse, and that's scary since their playoffs have been awful since game 5 of the cup final. Leafs aren't close either, but we are projecting up.

i'll save you the 'at least we made the playoffs', we're talking next year.

- clark_griswold

Leafs are also older compared to last year. Kessel, Kadri, Phaneuf, Lupul, Bozak are all a year older...

The biggest sucker bet on this is the Pens. After a shaky win against the Isles and getting embarrassed by the Bruins, what did they choose to do? More or less maintain the status quo. Then say dumb stuff like it sure would have been nice if we could have gotten a puck to go in off Andrew Ference's skate for a goal. As they stand now, they will be one and done in the playoffs next year.

2013 TML legacy: worst third period collapse in NHL playoff history. Be proud.

Leafs gotta be the biggest sucker bet, let's face it they haven't won (frank) all in almost a half century and with bozak as their first line center they ain't winning one for at least another half century.

No i wasn't alive. So you've been a fan of the North Stars and Wild, how is it possible you are chirping? "the leafs haven't won squat"...am i supposed to respond "neither have the stars/wild"?

My point is you have nothing to chirp about. So i don't have to tell you about winning squat, you're 10 years older than me so you should know well how it feels.

- clark_griswold

Relax buddy, the whole point is that just because your a fan of a franchise that was once a perennial cup contender over a half century ago in a league that had less than half the number of teams it does now and hasn't been significant for the better part of 47 years doesn't give you some sort of sacred "hands off" entitlement from getting "chirped" by other NHL fans. No matter what their team has or has not accomplished.

Had the Wild just come off of one of the most epic game 7 playoff collapses, I'd be expecting a little heckling if I were in a hockey forum critiquing other teams playoff chances or performances.

Don't take it so personal.

they finished with the same wins and 2 less points than the canucks without them
- JIMI-JAMES

So you think David Bolland will help the Leafs? I disagree. He's a shadow of his former self. Clarkson signed his big ticket and I guarantee he won't live up to the big contract.

Far too analytical. Montreal lost because Ottawa pounded the snot out of them. I don't think Montreal has really changed their structure, other than adding a fighter who will skate 4 minutes a night.

Not much love from me for the CH.

Clarkson and Phaneuf are dust, Bozak is garbage and Lupul eventually regresses back into his invisible injury plaqued self. Kessel is alright offensively but he's one-dimensional, Kadri is the only thing they got going for them and he's not even signed yet and due for a huge payday

Ottawa at 30/1? That could be a great return. Hurts me to say this as a Leafs fan, but the Sens vastly improved in the off-season. Have the D, the G and the young talented forwards that it could take.

agreed...they will push Boston for the division and if healthy, should be a tough team to play in the playoffs

i don't take these forums personally at all; i try to avoid the personal attacks. That's why i emphasized in my original post 'not hating on the habs', yet i get attacked. I don't see anything in my posts i have said to you that is 'personal' or where i need to relax. I find these forums amusing to be honest.

For me the teams at 200 / 1 and 100 / 1 are the biggest sucker bets because the payout is way too low for a very improbable outcome. These teams will likely be out of the playoff race before Christmas. Nice summer story.
