We would not get Bergenheim for Hemsky. We'd get Scottie Upshall for Hemsky. maybe they'd add a pick or prospect.

If that's all we get, why not keep Hemsky? We honestly would be better off putting him in a position to succeed and deal him at the deadline, when the cap isn't an issue.

Richard Cloutier: The Oilers Bottom 6: Fix It.
- Maxbone

Fixing the bottom 6 is like the football coach releasing the punter after losing 42-3.

the oilers need to keep improving in the face off, they need RNH and Yak to prove why they were 1st overall, they need gagner, eberle and hall not to let up in there development, It would be a bonus see the D prospects have a break through,

some mean MFs would be the icing

Keep in mind there could very be bad blood between Bergenheim and the Panthers. They had a dispute last year with his pay because of an injury that may or may not occured during the lockout in Europe.

I know, I dont ignore advance stats. Dont know a ton about it but they have their place. Just they arent the end all. You need to watch games to see why certain trends are happening. Theres several pretty big assumptions being made and they are far from perfect. My biggest beef with them is they completely ignore quality of possession. Its pretty hard to track that objectively though.
- pbrsimps

Well said. Theyre a tool to help guage a players value and success better.
But far from the whole story.

Just curious, how many stats take into account the score of the game?

You're the worst Oilers fan ever. You keep bashing everything they do. Why do you even cheer for the team? I think you're a Clouts alt account...

- Iggysbff

So in your world you have to agree and be on board with everything Oiler?? Well if that is the case I guess I am not a fan..... There is being a fan and being a homer...... Unlike you I prefer to be REALISTIC and a fan as opposed to drinking the kool aid and retarded!

It's pretty hard to talk hockey when you have a blogger like Cloutier. Yes the post was harsh, but it was the culmination of months of frustration with his antics.

I come here to converse with the other posters not to read his blogs. It's become increasingly difficult to do so when Cloutier tries to antagonize the fans of other teams in order to increase his hockeybuzz paycheque.

- Reveen

If that is the case why not make a facebook group or exchange msn accounts to chat? I mean it seems pretty self explanatory....NO? There are plenty of places to talk hockey where Cloutier isn't! I for one like Cloutiers blogs (for the most part), but can't understand why people come on HIS blogs to bash him and call him out.... If you want him gone that badly STOP READING and POSTING! Again it isn't rocket science!

Actually it is. Ek won't get rid of him.

So in essence if Reveen pisses people off and they leave it actually is better as more people leave instead of just 1.

You think if people complain to EK about Reveen posting on here he will eventually get rid of Cloutier? That makes little sense! I get why RC doesn't have a mod and it is a great.....But man you guys should realize that you do give him a rough go and the thick skin he shows in regards to me is worth the respect and thanks he should get, even just giving you guys (as Reveen put it) a place to chat with other posters on here. Put these comments or any other blogs comments on any other bloggers blogs and you and all of Reveen's buddies would be banned.... Food for thought?

Buddy I've been here through all the bullpoop, the day Richard was hired made thing a lot (frank)ing worse for the guys that dealt with trolls on this site for years.

You know why people don't get banned in these threads? Because most the mods think Richard is a joke and you can't ban guys for acting like idiots when he's blogs are full of stupidity.

I volunteered back when I was a respectable poster, but they told me know because I was once banned for standing up for Oilers fans that were being trolled.

Yet another brilliant move by the site, ban people for standing up against the trolls. And they wonder why Richard's threads are a gong show.

I suppose that's true. And frankly it's something you'd hope for. Bergy would be a really solid fit with us.

No its a serious question, I don't follow advanced stats so I don't know the parameters. How often is the score taken into account? Does it enter the equation of posession at all?

As far as I'm aware, Fenwick stats are weighted against different means depending on the score.

Google 'Fenwick score effects' or 'fenwick close' and it should explain it somewhere.

Although, to the best of my knowledge, they are team stats rather than individual stats. Ask Yost, he knows tons about that sort of thing.

While u certainly have a point, which i agree with, it still kinda misses the target as far as the improvements to the bottom 6.

There was/is certainly problems with the core guys, but it's not neccassarily something we can fix, or more to the point should fix, with anything other then time and furthur maturation.

With that said, improving the other areas of our weaknesses to give them insulation and a better chance of succeeding is really the only viable option
