I found that EDM did best with the 3rd line, 3rd pairing, and backup goalie out. Kind of strange how that works.

(36 pts in 69 games in 2012, 20 in 38 in 2013).

Before the season starts, I doubt a team gives up a 2nd for him or schultz for that matter, Edmonton will likely have to take back some salary just to get rid of him. If the oilers wait until the deadline maybe a desperate team like the sharks/nucks/pens might take a flyer on him, and maybe the return would be a 2nd.

I think the coaching and D needed some work. EDM was 19th in GA, but 2nd in SA/G (TO was 3rd). Dubey was what kept them in it a lot of nights. I suspect Eakins, Ference, better bottom pairing and whitney gone will push them up to 9th-10th in the west. No playoffs this year

I know, I dont ignore advance stats. Dont know a ton about it but they have their place. Just they arent the end all. You need to watch games to see why certain trends are happening. Theres several pretty big assumptions being made and they are far from perfect. My biggest beef with them is they completely ignore quality of possession. Its pretty hard to track that objectively though.
