To be fair, neither Marsh nor Samuelsson played for the Flyers during the height of the clutch and grab eras. Samuelsson returned during it, but was a 6th/7th defenseman at that point.

I'd also have McCrimmon ahead of van Impe, Desjardins and Timonen.

- Jsaquella

I'm fine with that, in my head #2-#5 could pretty much go in any order.

Marsh was all heart and he was easily one of my favorite Flyers (but I could say that about alot of those guys from the '80s).

And yeah, I second your point about the Beast.

agreed

and he'd trade the Canes' roster for the Flyers' heartbeat

obviously some criticism is deserved for any GM, but i honestly get the impression that some of the more absurd Flyers hate over the years honestly stems from people being angry (read: jealous) that they are always proactive and agressive in trades and the FA market. They just see the Flyers making bold moves and they hope they fail - in part because they're secretly frustrated that their teams dont go for it in similar fashion.

- Crimsoninja

Could well be part of it. The Flyers make mistakes, for sure. Hell, I feel they're overaggressive, myself at times. But that approach has led to a lot of success on the ice.

Yup. Imagine if you will, McCrimmon playing with Desjardins like he did Howe. Desjardins would've been able to threaten even more offensively because of his defensive partner.
- Flyskippy

Fair point, but Howe was a much more dangerous offensive weapon than Desjardins. First off he was faster and had a lethal wrist shot. Don't forget that he started his career in the WHA as a left wing and I believe he had multiple 100 point seasons.

Yep. Howe was more offensively gifted than most defensemen, as he was an all star claiber winger

So last night my wife got a tweet from early July favorited. Basically what this means is that someone had to read back through her tweets to see it.

Anywho, that someone was Nick Cousins. Should I be proud or afraid?

Honestly, had he done more research and criticized more than just Holmgren, I would have agreed with him to some extent. But ti was a typical hit piece and ignore a lot of the realities that impacted the decisions made.
- Jsaquella

And he's making money off of your anger, how do you feel about that? It's something you've gotta ignore. He just reinforced the idea that slandering the Flyers gets you hits and money. Don't continue to let that be reinforced. I bet there will be a little wave of Flyers hate blogs after this, and we'll gullibly read them all and comment our brains out, giving them the hits and money they expected from it.

I don't really care, to be honest.

Overall it helps the site, so I'm fine with that aspect of it. I'm not a season ticket holder for Eklund's rumors, I do it to help support Bill and the other good writers on this site. If helping Karash's mediocre numbers helps the site and by extension, Meltzer, then great.

No, I don't care that my "anger" helps to pay him is what I am saying, because ultimately me giving page hits helps the site

I'm not sure if I'm more surprised that Gomez is still in the NHL or that Florida signed him.

Habs and Leafs blogs routinely get most hits and comments on the site apart from Ek. Flyers get most among USA-based teams.

You can't justify supporting trash like that... It helps the site (sort of), but reinforces a really bad habit. This site shouldn't turn into a dumping ground for poor and slanderous blogging.

This site features Richard Cloutier and used to feature Matthew Barry. It's not the New York Times or Wall Street Journal of hockey sites...plenty of Judge Judy and Dr Phil level writers have been here since the site's begining

Ya and more will come like Karash if we buy into his offensive strategy. Barry left, so that's good. Cloutier's blogs are typically stupid, but sometimes he has a good one. At least it isn't all slandering other teams.

Cloutier's last blog :

21. Philadelphia Flyers - Yet another place Ryan Miller or Tim Thomas could end up. An absolute dartboard of a roster, what makes me sad here is that the team will eventually deal away their good young players (Schenn x 2 and Couturier) to make room for crusty has-beens. Disastrously run franchise.

Usually Karash's blogs deal specifically with the team he writes about. He generally doesn't rip other teams, like Cloutier does, and he's usually doesn't post things just to drive hits, like Cloutier does.

No worries man they dont make money from hits. Adsense only pays by click, thats if you click a ad. I click on occasion ads from Bills blog to help out... It would literaly take thousands of impressions to make 5cents.
